Fantails' nest - private sanctuary close to Takaka

Nestled in 2 acres of forest, and only 2kms from Takaka, this cosy cabin has the best of both worlds. Newly built, it has been custom designed to create a sense of space and warmth. Oozing with natural wood, high ceilings and expansive windows to make the most of the surrounding forest. Wander through the forest with the friendly piwakawaka (fantail) up to your very own picnic spot with one of the best views in Takaka. The cabin is set in a forest with a mix of native and exotic trees. It is totally private (which is why there are no curtains) and peaceful with all day sun. The loft bed platform has a queen sized mattress, good headroom and is accessed by a set of large steps/kitchen storage units. The cabin is small but feels spacious and has great outdoor living. The kitchen has a small oven, hotplates, toaster and small fridge/freezer. The outdoor amenities unit has a kitchen sink, shower and composting toilet. As it is set in a forest there are insects around including some mosquitoes on rainy evenings. The loft windows and a floor level ventilation hatch have insect screens so can be left open at night. Rototai is only 2km from the Takaka shops, an easy bike ride or walk. The cabin itself is accessed off Rototai Road, past our house and up a track into the forest, suitable for two wheel drive cars in all but the wettest conditions. Parking is behind the cabin. Set in a forest block in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Takaka township. 15 minute walk into town along a bike path. Two minute drive to town. Convenient parking next to the cabin.
