Hidden above the Wivenhoe Dam Spillway our cottage offers no neighbours, amazing rural views and stunning starry skies. Only 1 hour from the Brisbane CBD and 40 minutes to Lake Somerset. Dog friendly. Experience music, games, reading, and tranquillity near dams, rivers, walks, trails and little country markets. Simplify a stay away - declutter and unwind. Our cottage is an off-grid eco-experience nestled on a private 5 acres - no tv - just music, games, books and a stunning country outlook within easy reach of dams, lakes, walking trails, country markets and quant country towns. Simplify a stay away, declutter and unwind. Reconnect with your family or even yourself and do something a little bit different, and something a little kinder for the planet. Expansive wraparound deck, enjoy the breeze, sunset or starry nights from the outdoors or just relax on the hammocks. For the cooler months (or even the warmer ones) we have a large fire pit and outdoor sitting area made from large sandstone blocks. Experience what state of the art battery storage and off-grid solar can do. We have a 5,000 gallon rainwater tank, and gas for the stove and bbq. Automatic eco compostable toilet which is a normal toilet experience - just no flushing! Separate modern and spacious bathroom (shower only). And for the daring an outdoor hot water shower. Wifi is available if required :) Enjoy open plan living that is bright and airy with lots of windows to enjoy the breeze. No air-con or ceiling fans, free standing Vornado fans (eco air circulators) and the beautiful breeze atop the hill keeps you cool. Simple furniture and decor to help you unwind. The well equipped modern kitchen has a gas burner stove and oven. To support our eco ethos, kettle and toaster are stovetop and there is no dishwasher or microwave. Tea, coffee and basic cooking supplies are happily provided. Lots of tea towels for good old fashioned washing up fun :). Fresh herbs are available for your use. There is a compost bin on the property for food scraps if you wish to use it. The two bedrooms feature queen beds in each and there is a comfy sofa couch (koala brand, queen size) in the lounge. While it sleeps six please be mindful it’s a small cottage, best suited for couples or small families with older children. Best for 4 people. Good quality linen and new beds, pillows and mattresses help ensure a good night sleep. This is a beautiful part of the world, though please be aware we do get some traffic background noise on occasion as the property backs onto the main local thoroughfare. Two car accommodation under the house, plus loads of room for your boat, trailer, van or horse float on the property. All cleaning and bath products are organic or eco friendly. There is a washing machine and drying rack (no dryer). The deck features a BBQ and an outdoor dining table. The hammocks are a great place to chill, read a book or star gaze. Without compromising your stay, we do ask you to be conscious of water and power usage. We are strictly no parties or schoolies. Please bring your own beach towels if you plan on swimming in the dams. Your dogs are welcome, just note it's a rural property with barb wire fencing. Snakes may be on the property. No pets on furniture or the beds. We love our dog and want people to bring theirs. Please clean up after them. What to do? Rest. Read. Relax. Do nothing or do lots. Enjoy Australia’s longest recreational rail trail – the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail – and cycle, walk or ride a horse to townships bursting with character. Water sports lovers have access to Somerset Lake, or bring your fishing gear and drop a line. Enjoy country cooking and kick back with a drink at one of the region’s iconic cafés or pubs. There’s even boutique wineries to be discovered. Lots of parking on site. We won't be onsite, but available for any questions or information via the App. Located in the beautiful Somerset region, there are many local attractions to enjoy. Right next to Wivenhoe Dam and close to Lake Somerset. Six or so minute drive to Fernvale, close to Esk, Toogoolawah. Wivenhoe Hill hosts 16-kilometre multi-use trail, offering spectacular views of Lake Wivenhoe. These trails are suitable for mountain bike riders, horse riders, walkers and trail runners. Eco toilet, rainwater and solar energy with diesel generator backup and composting available. Rural property - dogs ok, but snakes may be present and fencing is rural barbed wire (we don't let our dog outside unsupervised).
