It’s a great spot to disconnect and discover the northern rivers from. We’ve shared some of our favourite sights and activities that we’re sure will create lasting memories for you like they have for us. Lismore, Nimbin and the villages of the Northern Rivers are like no other place in the world. Tucked away in the hills of northern NSW, the region is renowned for alternative living, World Heritage national parks, extraordinary artists and gourmet produce. Out here we love markets, waterfalls and nature. Here are a list of our favourite things to do: Whain Whain: There are so many beautiful waterfalls to swim and explore in the Northern NSW region and one of the top picks is Whian Whian Falls, located near Nightcap National Park. When at the carpark, there is a clearing and track on your left-hand side, follow the fence around until you reach the lookout over the falls. Tehuti: Tehuti Falls is located just outside of The Channon on the way to Protestors Falls. There is large swimming hole at the base of the falls. You will have to keep an eye out for a small pull off area as there are no signs marking the falls. Drive to The Channon, NSW*Head southeast along Standing Street.*Take the first left onto Mill Street.*Keep heading straight onto Terania Creek Road.*The distance is exactly 9.4km from The Channon.*You will see a small pull off area to your left.*On a hot day there will be many other cars there.*Park and walk down a small track to the falls and waterhole. Protesters falls walking track: Located in World Heritage Nightcap National Park, Protesters Falls is a must see while exploring the Lismore Hinterland. The easy walk from Terania Creek Picnic Area winds its way through the bangalow palm forest to the base of the falls. Swimming is not permitted in the area as it is home to the endangered Fleay's barred frog. Protesters Falls and Terania Creek is home to the first successful anti logging protest in 1979. The northern rivers also does markets exceptionally well. Here are our regulars The Channon Craft Market: 2nd Sunday of each month. Coronation Park - The Channon. Have $2 ready for the carpark on arrival. Lismore Car Boot Market: 1st & 3rd Sundays each month, 7:30am - 2pm. Lismore Shopping Square, Uralba Street, Lismore. Lismore Farmer Market: Every Saturday 8am-11.30am. Lismore Showgrounds. Lismore Produce Market: Every Thursday night. Between carrington and molesworth streets. 3.30pm-6.40pm. Lismore Organic Market: Every Tuesday 8am-11am. Lismore Showgrounds. Rocky creek dam: The dam has a platypus viewing platform, elevated boardwalk and pontoon bridge. There are picnic and barbecue facilities with wood supplied, benches, tables and children's play equipment. Four walks are available, ranging from 1.2 kilometres (20 minutes) to six kilometres (two hours) in length. Minyon Falls: Surrounded by ancient rainforests in Nightcap National Park, the waterfall plunges roughly 100-metres over jarring rhyolite cliffs that were once part of the Tweed Volcano. You can choose from an easier, two-hour return walk to Minyon Grass picnic area or the longer, hard-grade 4-5-hour Minyon Loop Walking Track. The Hideaway is located 13 minutes from Lismore CBD. From Lismore, you drive out past the showgrounds on Dunoon Road, through Tullera village turning left onto Bentley Road. Follow along past Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery for another 2 minutes until you reach 203 Bentley Road. The driveway is across from the purple jacaranda trees and your Hideaway is tucked in on the hillside on the left. Travelling time from Tullera Ballina/Byron Airport: 45 minutes by car Lismore CBD: 13 minutes by car Nimbin: 35 minutes by car The Channon: 15 minutes by car Protesters Falls: 35 minutes by car Rocky Creek Dam: 20 minutes by car The last 2.5km of the Road to your destination is unsealed road.
