This spacious and unique 100m2 flat is located in Ferrol, 45 minutes drive from A Coruña, Galicia. The building is one of the works of the famous Galician architect Rodolfo Ucha and stands out especially for its Galician wooden galleries. The historic building contrasts with the modernity of the flat, which has been completely refurbished and is committed to clean and bright spaces. With a capacity for up to 4 guests here you will find everything you need for an unforgettable stay. As can be seen in the photos, the flat consists of the following spaces: -A 40 m2 living-dining room framed by large glazed windows with geometric shapes and long white curtains that fall to the floor. It is a very luminous space, which invites you to spend time in it. It has a dining table for 5 people and an area with sofas and television. -It has a large, independent and equipped kitchen. It has a special feature: the partition wall that connects the kitchen with the dining room is open in the centre so that it lets in light from the living room and allows the dishes to pass comfortably into the dining area. -Space adjacent to the kitchen where the washing machine and other cleaning utensils are located. The sleeping area is as follows: -A large bedroom with a queen-size bed of 140 cm and a full en-suite bathroom. -Another bedroom with two 90 cm beds. Finally a second full bathroom. It is a warm and cosy space, well used and oriented to provide the best stay to the guest. Guests have access to the entire property. Towels, bed linen and hand soap included. -Heating by electric radiators. 2 in the living room and 1 in each bedroom and bathroom. -Hot water by an electric boiler. -There is no air conditioning but it is not necessary as temperatures are not high in Ferrol. -Regarding parking options, free parking is available on the street without restrictions. (Website hidden by Airbnb) -For families with children, we have available a highchair and several drawers full of toys (Website hidden by Airbnb) Finally, there is no lift and the flat is on the third floor. If any questions arise, please do not hesitate to ask. I'll be glad to help you :) Ferrol is a special city, it has the charm of a small town, with many pedestrian streets and a lively atmosphere of shops and restaurants. Less than 7 kilometres away there are some spectacular beaches, whose waves are enjoyed by hundreds of surfers, and it is on Pantín beach that a world surfing championship is held every year. You can also enjoy unspoilt and wild beaches in Doniños, Valdoviño or San Jorge. There are more familiar beaches such as Cabañas and Miño. The house is right in the centre, you have bars, restaurants, pubs, shops, etc within two minutes walking distance. The port of Ferrol is a 10-minute walk and there you can take the boat to Mugardos, a picturesque fishing village where you can try the octopus a la mugardesa, take a boat trip along the estuary (in good weather) and hopefully see dolphins..... There is a lot to do and see in Ferrol, so we will give you a list of what we, as Ferrol locals, consider most interesting, as well as maps and additional information on where to enjoy Galician gastronomy at an affordable price. The Fragas del Eume are 15 minutes away by car and are a spectacular landscape, a protected forest with the river Eume as its central axis. A Coruña is 30 minutes away and Santiago de Compostela 45 minutes by car. Other small medieval and fishing villages (Pontedeume, Betanzos, Cederia... ) are less than that distance. We recommend getting around by car. Parking is not a problem as in Ferrol and the surrounding villages you can park for free on the street. There are many places worth visiting, here is a list of some of them. BEACHES - Doniños: Beautiful. Open sea. It is very long, at one end there is a "chiringuito" for a drink in the afternoon (drinks only). It is about 10 minutes drive from Ferrol. At the other end, there is a restaurant: "Casa Cholas". The codillo is spectacular. Reservations are compulsory. - San Jorge: Very nice too. Sometimes the weather is bad on one beach and good on the other. It is the next beach to Doniños on the same road. To eat overlooking the sea (at a good price): Casa Claudina (I recommend the monkfish and the grilled meat), reservations are compulsory. - Valdoviño: A very long beach with dunes. Also open sea. It is a bit further away, half an hour. - Cabañas: It is a more familiar beach, with hardly any waves as it is in the estuary and the water is warmer. It is better not to go on weekends. It has a pine forest with shade, tables and some squirrels. It is next to Pontedeume and the Fragas del Eume. 18 kilometres from Ferrol BY SIGHTSEEING... - The centre of Ferrol: It has some modernist houses, by the architect Rodolfo Ucha (who also did our house). It is a bit run down but has a lot of shops and commercial life. - The port of Ferrol: It is not spectacular but it is good to go for a beer and if you are in the area, Bacoriño is a must for lunch or dinner. From the port, there is a small boat to Mugardos, which crosses the estuary and goes to this village where the typical Mugardos octopus is served. Normally in summer, the same company of the boat of Mugardos organizes routes by the estuary. To eat in Mugardos La Posada del Mar. - Castle of San Felipe: It is in the Ría de Ferrol, it is from the 16th century. It is worth a visit. It is located in the narrowest part of the estuary, the opposite is the castle of La Palma (in Mugardos), from these castles the entrance to the estuary was watched. - Pontedeume: A beautiful medieval village, you must go there. For tapas you can go to Zas (in the old part), Compostela (although they are a bit rough), the pulperia Cien Pasos (in the cemetery) 5 minutes from the centre and a restaurant called Pitanza, crossing a Roman bridge you can go from Pontedeume to Cabañas (to the beach). From Pontedeume you can also take the road to the Fragas del Eume or you can continue to Betanzos. - Betanzos: another beautiful medieval village. - Monastery of Caveiro: It is in the Fragas del Eume, worth a visit. You have to leave the car a little earlier and walk-up. In summer, especially on weekends, they close the road and put a small bus to go up. You can also walk up but it can take a couple of hours, it is a very nice walk. They rent electric bicycles. - Monastery of Monfero: Also worth a visit. - A Coruña - Santiago de Compostela ENJOYING THE GASTRONOMY... In Ferrol itself: - Bacoriño, in the street that goes down to the port: C\ San Francisco 28 . The potato omelette is spectacular. You should also order croquettes and a platter of cold meats. They have a long wine list. - O camino do inglés: Modern Galician cuisine. We haven't been there yet but we've heard very good things about it: it's very close to the Bacoriño, on the street that goes down to the port. - Frank: Similar to the previous one. Both are very fashionable. C\San Francisco 42 - Meirás: Calle de Carmen, 6. Very cheap prices and everything is very tasty. The Russian salad is very good. - Takeaway: On the corner of our street with Calle del Sol there is a takeaway place (I think it's called "a pedir de boca". If you are tired one day you can buy something there. If you order a hamburger, say "pan del país". Also on the corner at the top of the street is the bitácora, which is not bad for a bite to eat. - El Horno de la Magdalena. To buy buns and bread at El horno de la Magdalena (Calle Magdalena 42). Near the house: - Casa Claudina: With great views of San Jorge beach. We recommend monkfish and roast beef. - Casa Cholas: On the beach of Doniños. It is famous for its codillo (knuckle of pork), which is made with herbs. It has very nice views of the beach. BEACHES Ferrol has some very beautiful open sea beaches, which are a delight for surfers. The one closest to Ferrol is Doniños. Here, if the weather is good, there is a beach bar at one end, quite rustic, El bar de pitu, where you can enjoy a drink (the children can play on the dunes) or watch the sunset. At the other end, there is another more secluded bar (Lumeboo). San Jorge and Valdoviño are also highly recommended. If you're arriving later than 20:00, please read carefully the House Rules so we can make it work :)
