Spacious & modern family home in rural Bristol
Our home is a newly refurbished 4 bedroom detached house set in generous gardens in rural Bristol, ideal for large family groups and gatherings. We are in an ideal location, surrounded by woodlands and fields to offer a peaceful rural retreat, yet only 7 miles from the bustling heart of Bristol and within easy reach of local attractions such as the boating lakes at Chew Magna, Cheddar Gorge, the Glastonbury Tor and Bath. Our home underwent extensive renovations in 2017 and is fantastically warm, comfortable and modern. Set in a generous garden in a rural setting on the outskirts of Bristol, the house consists of four bedrooms, two reception rooms and a large open-plan kitchen/diner, making it the perfect place for family and friends to gather for special occasions. The kitchen/diner has all modern appliances as well as a log-burning stove, a breakfast bar to seat 4 and a dining room table big enough to seat 8 people. Off the kitchen there is a beautiful garden room with access to the patio and sunken seating area (with fire pit) via bi-fold doors. This room is a real sun-trap, the perfect place to sit and enjoy the morning papers with a coffee. It also has a curved 55-inch 4K OLED television with Netflix, Amazon TV and Disney Plus, as well as a Blu-ray player with surround sound, a curved recliner sofa and free-standing log burning stove - so not a bad spot for movie night either! There is another light and airy living room with windows on three sides that also has access to the large and sunny garden via patio doors. This room has an open fire, a 50-inch 4K HDR television (also with Netflix, Amazon TV and Disney Plus), and a comfortable 3-piece suite. There is also a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs we have the master bedroom, a large room with french doors that open onto a Juliette balcony that overlooks the garden. This has an incredibly comfortable super-king bed, some shelving for clothes, and an en-suite bathroom with rain shower and underfloor heating ( in the winter). There is another double room with king-size bed and wardrobe and drawer space, as well as two children's bedrooms, one with bunk beds, and one with a single raised cabin bed and the option to add a single air mattress on the floor. There are lots of toys and books in these rooms to keep little ones entertained. These three rooms are serviced by a family bathroom with 6-foot long bath, shower, and under-floor heating (in the winter). The garden is about a third of an acre, and its south and west facing aspects means it gets sun throughout the day. It's not particularly over-looked, has a large patio and a sunken seating area with fire pit. There is a BBQ available during the summer months (we will provide coals for your first bbq). There is a trampoline and a small pond. You will be able to use the entire house and garden whilst you are here. The only areas we close off are the study on the first floor, and a small walk in closet in the master bedroom. If we are renting the entire house out it will be because we are away, and so won't be able to come by should you need anything. However there is a key safe for access and an extensive welcome booklet which explains anything you might need to know. We also have friends and family close by that can help in an emergency, and we will always be reachable on the phone. Flax Bourton has the best of both worlds - it's a quiet village with easy access to the centre of Bristol, but surrounded by woodlands and fields. There are two great pubs within easy walking distance, and two villages just a couple of miles away in each direction. There is a wonderful local farm shop that serves the most incredible farmer's breakfast or Sunday roast, a bakers, a Co-op, a Post Office, and more great pubs and restaurants all about 2 miles away. Should you need bigger shops and amenities then the heart of Bristol is just 10 minutes away by regular, direct buses that stop at the end of our road. Being situated in South Bristol we are well placed if you want to explore some of the local attractions such as the boating lakes at Chew Magna, the caves at Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole, and the Glastonbury Tor. We are fortunate in that we are so close to Bristol airport and yet aren't disturbed by any air traffic! Bristol Temple Meads train station is 20 minutes away by car (with Nailsea station that accesses London and Plymouth just 5 minutes away), and there are regular direct buses that go to Bristol, Ashton Court, and Ashton Gate stadium that stop at the end of our road. We are also very close to the M5 and M4 for travelling by car. There is off-street parking for 4 cars at our home, with plenty of space to park on the road outside. Please note that our minimum booking period for the whole house is 4 nights. We do have a friendly cat who will be around and in the house during your stay but you will not need to feed her. There is a small, un-fenced pond in the garden. The climbing frame in photos has now been removed for safety reasons.
