Causeway Cottage is the perfect retreat for a gathering of friends or family who are seeking a relaxing break surrounded by the breath-taking Cotswold countryside. A gravel driveway leads you up to the property, where you can keep up to three cars. The front door opens into an entrance hall where you can hang your coats and store your shoes in the boot rack before entering into your home-from-home abode. Directly ahead of you is a handy utility/cloakroom with a basin and WC and a handy washing machine and tumble dryer. Entering into the living/dining room, you will be delighted with the warm and welcoming space that is before you, with a wealth of character features including exposed wooden beams and original wooden flooring, with a warming woodburning stove sat in a lovely inglenook fireplace, providing the perfect space to relax with your loved ones either watching your favourite show on the wall-mounted Smart TV, or playing fun games from the selection on offer. Adjacent to the dining area is a quaint snug area, a peaceful spot offering wonderful garden views through the stone mullion window with an inviting leather armchair. The well-presented country-style kitchen contains everything you need during your self-catering stay to cook up delicious meals, including an electric AGA and electric oven with an induction hob, and even a dishwasher to make the clean up a breeze! Choose to dine in either the living/dining room at the wooden dining table or in the kitchen at the wooden breakfast table. When the night draws to a close, a spiral staircase with a handrail leads you up to the first-floor where you will find three homely bedrooms; the master has a welcoming super-king-size bed and benefits from an en-suite bathroom, the second contains a king-size bed and the third contains twin beds. In the morning, indulge in an invigorating rinse in the large walk-in shower in the spacious family bathroom, and exit to a welcome warmed towel with thanks to the heated towel rail. Make your way down to the kitchen to make you and your party a warming mug of coffee using the Nespresso coffee machine, and, if the weather allows, retreat into the stunning south-facing garden to catch the morning sun rays. The beautiful garden spans a third of an acre making it the perfect space to enjoy some summer sun, lounging on the sun loungers, as the charcoal barbecue prepares your evening meals for a wonderful alfresco dining experience. Be sure to make use of the large table tennis set and croquet set located in the double garage! When you're ready to explore for the day, make a start in the lovely, unspoilt village of Old Minster Lovell where you will find a well-regarded pub, The Old Swan, the12th century parish church of St Kenelm, just a short walk away from the cottage and the extensive ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century manor house which is now a Grade I listed building maintained by English Heritage, running alongside the church. You will find Witney Lakes Resort close by, offering a range of sports including golf and swimming, as well as a spa and food and drinks. Old Minster Lovell is located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are many local walks and cycle trails to explore, including those along the River Windrush which flows through the village itself, as well as many other charming villages in the Cotswolds, such as nearby Bourton-on-the-Water, which has been affectionately named the “Venice of the Cotswolds” due to its many arching bridges that cross over the river, home to an array of shops, restaurants, tea rooms, attractions and pubs, such as Birdland Park and Gardens and Cotswold Motoring Museum and Toy Collection – both a fantastic day out. The medieval market town of Burford is within easy reach, with its wide range of eateries, including pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, as well as shopping and antiques. History awaits at the 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. In the nearby charm-filled market town of Cirencester, history buffs can enjoy an afternoon at the Corinium Museum, showing a collection of locally-sourced Roman remains, or perhaps if shopping is more your thing, indulge in some retail therapy into Black Jack Street before wandering the picture-perfect parks. Whether you’re wanting to explore the delights of the Cotswolds, or simply ‘do nothing’, Causeway Cottage is the right choice for you.
