With 3 comfortable guest rooms, each with a river view, you can enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail in the quiet of your room, or on the wraparound porch. An hour from Halifax and central to all the favourite historic destinations, restaurants, shopping and beaches, the location is ideal. Built in 1897, as the rectory for St. Matthew's Anglican Church, the home sits on 2 wooded acres surrounded by another 100 acres of forest. Across the road lies the LaHave River of which we enjoy 350 ft of undeveloped water front. The newly renovated Bishops Room enjoys west facing river views, has a comfortable queen size bed with 100% cotton sheets, desk and reading chair to curl up in with a good book before hitting the hay. Soft cotton towels and locally made soap will start your day off right before heading downstairs for coffee. Free Parking for up to 3 vehicles on site with 2 entrances to the driveway off Hwy 3, the main thoroughfare to all your favourite destinations. The perfect location, only 20 minutes to Hiking trails, Kayaking, beaches, restaurants, shopping and the main tourist sites such as Mahone Bay, Unesco designated Lunenburg(home of the Bluenose)and the popular Oak Island. Residing on site we are here to help with questions, problems, recommendations or just to sit and enjoy a chat. Located within 20 minutes of hiking, kayaking, beaches, restaurants, shopping and tourist favourites Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Oak Island. Free parking on site for 3 vehicles with 2 driveway entrances off Hwy 3. a main thoroughfare offering easy access to favourite historical sites, beaches and more. We are not your traditional Bed and Breakfast nor your traditional Airbnb but a melding of the two. Owner occupied our home is perfect for singles, couples or adult family members vacationing or travelling together, a girlfriends(or guy friends) weekend getaway or celebrating a special event. Although we don't offer kitchen access we will gladly share recommendations to some outstanding restaurants, or grab some take out and dine on the porch or in the dining room. The Southshore is a great get away anytime of the year, so take advantage of the many festivals and markets happening all year long and come stay with us. We always welcome service and emotional support animals. (with in reason). Please let us know in advance if one will be accompanying you when you book. All fees including cleaning are included in the nightly price. The century home has been loving restored over the past 12 months and a few on going projects may still be in progress during your stay but will not interfere with your enjoyment of the property.
