Athens View Loft 07
Artistic period house in Mets, central Athens
The house is a two-storey building in central Athens. The visitors have access to the self-contained (with its own entrance) ground floor flat which is impressively spacious and full of light. The owner, being an architect, made certain during the recent redecorating/refurbishing that the work shows respect for and highlights the original style of the building. The flat enjoys a blend of contemporary ideas together with period features such as high ceilings with charming stucco decoration, an art nouveau fireplace, wooden floors, tile floors in kitchen and utility room showing the intricate design of the tiles of the era. The flat offers visual interest and comfort in a open-plan sitting room and a delightful breakfast area under a bright sunny skylight. The breakfast table also serves as a pleasant working space for the laptop. The space can accommodate families, couples, solo travellers and business people. Mets is renowned as one of the few remaining Athenian neighbourhoods with well-preserved two-storey houses and the quaint air of another era. Visitors will enjoy walking round its pedestrianised, tree-lined streets and relax in the district's distinctly calm and welcoming ambience. The local super-market, baker's and greengrocer's are 2min away. There is a small park nearby, pine-clad Ardittos hill is at arm's length at the back of the building and the National Gardens 5 min away. Also, because the flat is situated in the historic neighbourhood of Mets, it benefits from having easy access to the stunning marble Kallimarmaron stadium, Plaka, the Acropolis, Syntagma square and Metro and all the main tourist attractions and museums. Mets has also a lively night scene -Varnava square eg with its vibrant atmosphere is only 10min away- it is full of eateries (falafel, souvlaki,e.t.c.), bars, live music places. The popular coffee and wine bar which is just up the road often houses live jazz nights. There is very easy access to road, trolley and metro network and most significantly buses and the tram to the sea. * How to get to the flat Take the metro or the bus from the airport to Syntagma square. There you have 3 options: 1. Do the 10min walk to Mets and the flat. 2. Take either trolley (no. 2,4,11), or bus (no 209), or tram (no 4,5) - they all stop 2 min away from the flat. 3. Take a cab (minimum charge 3,20euros in the day time).
