General Description of the Cabin: Relax by the river on a soft, sandy beach. Fall asleep to the sound of water flowing by and wake up to the mountains right outside your windows. The large master bedroom looks out over the river and back yard and includes an en suite bathroom and dressing area. The large front room is not only the great room with kitchen, dining and living areas, but also has two twin beds built into the wall leading to a second bathroom with a shower. With the queen bed in the master, the two twin beds and the queen sized fold out couch in the living room, there is sleeping room for six people. Although the kitchen is well stocked with most things you would need to cook and serve your meals, there are also many restaurants close by. One, the Riverkern General Store is right across the street! There are several more to choose from in nearby Kernville, a quaint, cute, walkable small town. Some menus are included in the Welcome Book. You will be spoiled for choice as to what to do while you are here. Activities on the property itself: You can, of course, just choose to just relax on the deck or the beach. The River is literally in your backyard, its mood changing with the season from a raging, exciting torrent in the spring that requires professional guides (see the Welcome Book for professional whitewater guiding recommendations), to a lazy wading and fishing venue later in the late summer. Activities nearby: Isabella Lake, just 15 minutes to the south, stands ready to give you the opportunity to fish, kite or wind surf, water ski, Stand Up Paddleboard, sail, or swim. Its moods vary with the season from brimming full in the Spring to lower in the fall and winter. The Giant Sequoias are just an hour up the river to the north. There the Walk of a Hundred Giants provides a handicap friendly trail to enable all to enjoy these mighty red wood trees. Alta Sierra, at 8000 ft., is just a 45 min drive to the west. This local high altitude mountain is beautiful all year ‘round. It has often has enough snow in the winter for Shirley Meadow Ski area to open up as well snow on cross country ski trails and sledding slopes. When there is no snow, hiking, and mountain biking trails abound. Between adventures, you and your family have plenty of room to gather in the cabin’s backyard under the covered patio or on two decks overlooking the River and shaded by a grand old oak tree. Plan to take your morning coffee or evening dessert on the decks to watch the sunrise or sunset paint the mountains in a beautiful play of lights and shadows.
