Whitley Bay is wonderful for families of all ages, still retaining some old-fashioned seaside charm, whilst Tynemouth has some amazing restaurants and bars, a Sealife Centre, The ancient Abbey, hidden coves, and highly rated beaches perfect for surfing and rock pooling. Nearby, catch a bus or metro if you want to leave your car behind perhaps spend a day in Newcastle, a city of culture and entertainment where you will receive a warm Geordie welcome. Travel north for a day trip further into Northumberland and discover some of the castles and historic sites peppered along the coast.
