Cozy 'Off the Grid" Rustic Cabin

If you enjoy 'roughing it', stay in our beautiful log home from the late 1800's. It has been completely redone, maintaining all of the old character. It is nestled in the edge of the bush, that provides kilometres of hiking trails. The cabin is also situated on a pond so you can spend your days swimming, canoeing, fishing and exploring this nature lover's paradise. Spend your time here unplugging from your everyday life and reconnecting to the healing properties of a natural environment. This cabin is truly off the grid. With no hydro, you will spend your evenings connecting around the wood fireplace with the light of lanterns and candles. We will provide a propane hot plate for preparing simple meals. There is a ladder leading to the sleeping loft with a child gate. There is no running water however there will be a supply of fresh water for drinking and cooking. There is a composting toilet located in the sleeping loft. There are a few kilometres of hiking trails located on our 100 acre property. In the winter you can enjoy your day cross-county skiing and snowshoeing. The snowmobile trail is located at the end of our road for convenient access. There is a great hill for sledding and snowboarding. You can also enjoy the pond for skating and hockey tournaments! In the summer, relax by swimming and fishing in the pond. You can search for plenty of wildlife on your walks through the property. Spend your evenings roasting marshmallows around the campfire. Before you call it a night, be sure to take some time to experience the beautiful, starry night sky. We will be staying in our house located on the property. If needed, we are available during the day to help. When we are away, there will be a family member available to contact. For the summer, we are located 40 minutes from Sauble Beach. The Grotto, in Tobermory, is located 1.5 hours from our property as well. In the immediate area of Owen Sound, there are several amazing waterfalls including Inglis Falls, Walters Falls, Jones Falls and Indian Falls. The Bruce Trail is located within 10 minutes as well. There are some beautiful golf courses located in the area as well. In the winter season, Blue Mountain is located 45 minutes away for Ontario's best skiing and snowboarding. Spend some time dining and shopping in the Village of Blue Mountain as well. The snowmobile trails are located right at the end of our road for all you adventure seekers. Harrison Park is known for its public skating rink and amazing tobogganing hill. There is no shortage of things to do in the beautiful Grey Bruce Area! Please be cautious with young children around the ponds located on the property.
