Here among the firs and ferns, you can spend your days hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, or simply unwinding in an Adirondack chair at the river's edge. There's recreation in every direction here, with Sandy Ridge mountain biking trails immediately north, world-class skiing to the east, and downtown Portland an easy drive west. Yet everything you need for a memorable escape is within this rustic home. The interior is adorned with natural wood, including a beautiful staircase made from natural logs. There's both a wood-burning fireplace to warm you as you return home from your adventures, as well as a hot shower, comfortable beds, and a private washer/dryer to toast your socks. The country kitchen has stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher) to use when you're not dining out at Pub 26 or Brightwood Tavern. Just outside, you'll find a deck that was built around the towering firs, a gas grill, a picnic table for al fresco meals, and a firepit to keep you warm once the sun goes down.
