Welcome to Black Jack Battlefield BNB! We would love to share our family's quiet and spacious country retreat on 8 stunning wooded acres surrounded by pastures. We are conveniently located just 5 minutes from historic Baldwin City and Baker University, 20 minutes from Lawrence, KS, and 45 minutes from downtown Kansas City or stay nearby to enjoy history and nature at Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park. Step out of your busy life and join us for a peaceful country get-away. After parking, come on in through a private entrance into our 2000 square foot walk out basement, which is accessed via well lit hardscape stairs onto cobblestone patio, or bypass stairs and walk through the grass down a slow incline to the ground level patio. Entrance and doors inside are all extra wide wheel chair accessible doorways . The Farmhouse bedroom boasts comfortable beds for 5. Not only is there a pillow top queen bed but also a twin over queen bunk bed. The premium queen futon on the bottom bunk makes for a fantastic night's rest and offers extra seating in the bedroom. Linens, pillows, and extra blankets provided. Bedding for the futon is stored in the cedar chest. Private bathroom supplied with towels, toilet paper, soap, and basic toiletries should you forget anything at home. The whole family can enjoy the game room with billiards table, dart board, arcade games, and air hockey. The dining table for 6 creates the perfect spot for a puzzle, card game, or sharing a family meal. On the other side of the bar top counter seating you'll find a small refrigerator, microwave, basic dishes for 6, cutting board, 2 cutting knives, a cork screw, bottle opener, as well as salt & pepper. A hot drink station is available with several coffee and tea choices as well as hot chocolate. Sugar and half & half provided. If you'd like to stay in for breakfast, we have partnered with Homestead Kitchen and Bakery in Baldwin City. You can simply order and pay for your breakfast from their website and they will deliver it to you here at our home. Our naturally lit family room is the perfect place to snuggle all together on our large couch to enjoy the gas log fireplace, or borrow a book/game from our lending library. Just make sure to return everything where you found it before leaving so others can continue to enjoy it. The TV is equip with surround sound and a PS4 to watch DVDs. Wifi is available. Outdoors you'll find 8 acres of woods you can explore or play yards games (upon request), or relax in any of our outdoor seating areas. For an additional fee we'll set up a bon fire and provide you with s'mores as you enjoy the brilliant stars with out all the city lights around us. We feel truly blessed to be able to share not only our family's home, but our lives with other families. Our 2 friendly english shepherds Champ and Royal will most likely greet you upon arrival (If you would like us to kennel them prior to your arrival, just ask). They love being outdoors all the time with our 3 black cats KC, Bolt, and Midnight. No weapons allowed. No smoking of any substance is allowed anywhere on the property. Guest will have private use of the Farmhouse Bedroom and bathroom. Game room and family room are shared spaces. Private use of the whole basement can be arranged for an additional fee. Perfect for family, or small group retreats. We work from home and are available via text at anytime during your stay and will be sleeping in the house during your visit. Check in between 3 pm-9 pm. Check out is 11 am. Our country oasis is perfectly located 5 minutes from historic Baldwin City, 20 minutes from Ottawa and Lawrence, KS, as well as only 45 minutes from the downtown Kansas City area. You'll feel like you've stepped into a Hallmark Movie when you drive down High Street into Baldwin City to enjoy any of the several local eateries, antique shops, book store, or wander through the stunning Baker University campus. You can walk or take a 1 minute drive to Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park or Black Jack Cabin. The historic Santa Fe Trail passes right between them where you can still see wagon wheel tracks! Our home is easily accessible and is about 1/2 mile off the blacktop of US56 hwy. Private use of the entire basement to include family room, game room, bedroom, and bathroom can be arranged for an additional fee. bonfire & s'more set up for additional fee.
