Described as a "Wonderland Weekend Escape", Botanical Art House is recognized by Chadds Ford Township as the 6th oldest building in PA! Owned by a nationally distributed dried flower specialist, the gardens include an outdoor over-sized chess game. The Lantern-in-the-Eaves Bedroom in the Attic of the original 1660 Trading Post has a private bathroom-laundry-refrigerator & microwave. Vaccinated guests only. Once you key in the code that unlocks the front door, you enter a space where there's something interesting to look at everywhere you turn your head. It started as a cottage that was built in 1699 (your bedroom is the top level!) and since then some additions have been added on. The original exterior sidings of the cottage are now interior walls! It's pretty neat! The living room comes with a high ceiling, a beautiful gold chandelier and a gas fireplace. It's the perfect seating area for a couple of people or plus some. Please Take Full Advantage Of: -- Your bedroom and all that it supplies: the bathroom, walk-in shower, etc. -- the living room (gas fireplace is easy to access with a touch of a button!) -- the kitchen (refreshments are in the fridge, fridge also has a built-in filtered water/ice dispenser, keurig is also on site free for guests to use) -- outside patio(s) and backyard Where Guests Should Refrain From Going: ---- the garage There is so much to explore on this property without having to go into these areas that the guests will still find much comfort staying here! Francie and Teresa who live on the premises and may be on the property when guests stay. Francie travels frequently a couple of weeks during the month, and Teresa travels quite often on the weekend. Teresa is the host and is available if guests have any questions. Teresa does work full time, so it is possible she may not be on the property for a good portion of your stay. She is always available by cell. While the home itself is tucked away on one of the numerous back roads in the area, it's surprisingly close to many things. The house is a 1/2 mile from Route 202 (a major road). Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum, Brandywine Battlefield, Whole Foods, Wegman's, Wine & Spirits, Trader Joe's, Target, Costco, and an AMC dine-in theatre are all within a 10-minute drive. Wilmington, DE & West Chester, PA are 15 minutes away; Kennett Square, PA and Newman College are 20 minutes away; Philadelphia Airport is 25 minutes; Philadelphia is 30 minutes 6.4 miles off I-95's Wilmington, DE 202N exit just across the state line in Chadds Ford, PA, the house has plenty of parking for trailers & boats as well as cars. Although guests have walked 1.4 miles to Brandywine Battlefield, 2.2 miles to the Brandywine River Museum and biked 2.1 miles to Delaware's First State National Park Beaver Valley Unit, Ridge Road is very much a back road and does not have sidewalks. Only 25 minutes from the Philadelphia Airport as well as Wilmington, DE's Amtrak Train Station, Uber is frequently here.
