OUTDOOR fireplace.. RAINWATER shower the location offers a unique experience for a few days away from the fast lane…… light filled bedroom opens to deck in the tree canopy...a real TREEHOUSE feel ............. TRAVEL ............ from Brooklyn by water taxi or riverboat postman to BAR POINT THEN it is a short steep walk from the waters edge to the shack… BUT well worth the hike if you like the images!!! ..................................... ABOUT THE SHACK ..................................... set back from the waters edge, in a grove of native bush…...... the shack is a minimalistic space but offers much more than just the basics the living area is an indoor/outdoor OPEN SPACE interconnecting the lounge to the rear terrace where an outdoor fire is built into the hillside… there are NO DOORS between the lounge & the rear deck, just blinds that drop down if required.. the concept is to enjoy the open space as one …which works well in most weather conditions ............................................................. THE COOK'S GALLEY / KITCHEN ............................................................. is essentially AN OUTDOOR SPACE, built below the overhanging eaves of the living & the bedroom structures ...... yet here all is in place for those with a love of cooking PANTRY shelves are well stocked with oils, vinegars & mustards; asian & european sauces / condiments; salts & pepper teas, coffee & sugar ; back up flours & grains glad wrap, paper towel, baking paper, foil ....................... THE DINING ....................... there is no formal dining area the bar counter close to the fire is a favourite spot to eat the 'workbench' table in the lounge is another lovely spot as is the outdoor table on front deck ............................. THE BEDROOM ............................. the bedroom space can be fully closed glass double doors open to front deck the built in CORNER DOUBLE BED w italian two way CEILING FAN above, is the most perfect place to relax in the filtered afternoon light if you are looking for a bedroom with blackout faciliTes, then this is not for you although light, the sun itself does not reach the shack bedroom till late'ish ............................... THE BATHROOM ............................... the ensuite shower & toilet connects with bedroom here the outdoor is embraced with glass free windows..... the portable fan heater takes the chill off the bathroom on cool mornings there is a large ECO RAINWATER SHOWER head in the shower the shower is fed by a rainwater low pressure tank so a soft & gentle experience BYO shower towels .................. OUTSIDE ................. a hammock for two outdoor fire 2 seater canoe fishing rods ..................... SWIMMING .................... the current is very strong in this part of the river, but on the still of the high tide ( & at no other time ), the jetty pontoon is a great place jump in…at own responsibility ................... KAYAKING ................... kayak to the fresh waterhole ..... suited for persons w moderate kayaking permitted if you can swim... life jackets & enclosed kayak footwear must be worn when is at own risk ..... only along the shoreline Kayak is provided by prior arrangement at time of booking .................. WALKING .................. Bar Point is a settlement of approx. 200 houses /weekenders of varying shapes & sizes kalinda road, a narrow grass track, just below the shack runs along the western reach joining the foreshore track nearer the point the foreshore reserve extends approx. 3km from western end to eastern end … from the shack this takes approx. 45 minutes as a round trip stroll ....................................... MOBILE RECEPTION ....................................... you probably need to walk to mailshed to pick up Telstra tower & signal.... there is some Optus signal at the shack, which improves as you get to the congo jetty generally optus texts are fine at shack We look forward to hearing from you Regards Roz & Jacqui
