A sun-filled second-floor flat between Buffalo and the Falls in a historic blue-collar city. Next to a forested park, down the street from a carousel museum & farmer's market. Short drive from the Erie Canal and Niagara River waterfront walks and eateries . Ride a carrousel at the Herschell Museum, see a Riviera Theater show or rent a canoe, kayak, water bike and electric boat and enjoy the historic Erie Canal. 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. No public transportation there, but Uber works! This newly restored apartment has a claw-foot tub for soaks, a standing shower, two bedrooms, a vinyl collection for spinning music on the stereo, TV and WiFi. Enjoy over 10 types of tea and coffee with honey, sugar and milk always available. Our kitchen is great for making meals and dining around a vintage wooden table. The kitchen includes the basics, a toaster oven, gas stove, microwave, cast iron fry pan, spices, a coffee maker with lots of spices and extras stocked for your use. Enjoy! The back bedroom has a queen size bed with a closing door for privacy. The second bedroom is off the kitchen and has a futon couch that converts to a full-size/double bed. This is a small apartment that works best for groups of 2 or 3 people but we allow families of up to 5 to rent. When this apartment is not rented it is a favorite of our family as a place to get away and enjoy a quit space. We considered it our home. The full apartment on the second floor is yours to settle into and roam through. Everything in the apartment is there for you to use and enjoy. We live a few blocks away and are glad to come by, meet and help with directions and outing ideas. Just let us know how we can help. North Tonawanda is a sleepy city on the old Erie Canal and a working-class suburb in the ring around Buffalo. It was founded by lumber barons at the turn of the last century. They built grand Victorian homes in this city that later became a factory town, where bolts, carrousels & Wurltizer organs and jukeboxes and Remington office filing systems were once made. It has strong blue collar roots and an old business district on Webster Street, home to the Riviera Theater and new restaurants along the water. I like all three: Dockside's with its water view, Remington Tavern's Italian fare & oyster bar & Smoke on the Water's classy barbecue with patio. Nearby, not on the water, but excellent, is Webster Street Bistro, a gourmet American-French white-table-cloth restaurant near the Riviera Theater. North Tonawanda is the home to Gateway Harbor Park, where there often are free concerts or special events. Along this stretch of canal you can rent a kayak, water bike or an electric boat. Or, find a seat by the water & watch boats motor by. The Canal connects to the Niagara River, between Lake Erie and the Falls, with miles of river walk and picnic spots. Our house is on a quiet street and faces a Lutheran church. We are just between the mansions of yesteryear and the suburban neighborhoods that make up so much of Western New York. Walk or drive from Thompson Street to the Canal, the farmers market, Pine Woods Park and the Carrousel museum. North Tonawanda is in Niagara County, on the Erie County border, where the suburbs spread up Niagara Falls Boulevard from Buffalo. It's just a little over 20 minutes drive to Buffalo, the bridge to Canada, outlet shops and the Falls. Thompson Street is just off Twin City Highway, which starts out in Buffalo as Colvin Blvd Rt-425. The apartment is just a few miles from Niagara Falls Blvd, Rt 62, which runs from the UB city campus to downtown Niagara Falls. The Blvd is a commercial strip with chain stores and restaurants, the Boulevard Mall& my personal favorite for mall shopping: The Niagara Falls Outlet Mall with Kate Spade & Cole Haan shops. Route 62 connects to the I-290 and from here you are about 20 minutes to a half hour away from most all of the areas attractions, like Niagara Falls and downtown Buffalo.
