Views from the portale stretch long & wide. Enjoy birdsong with breakfast & sunsets with your cocktails. You're 20 minutes to the trails of the Taos Ski Valley as well as to the more urban pleasures of Taos. Coyote Road Guest Suite is a tranquil base to explore Taos. Come visit. We also have 1 studio apartment in town smack dab in the middle of everything-- that may be available short term .. please inquire. Coyote Road Guest Suite is set amidst pines and juniper with views that stretch wide and long. It's quiet up here with the birds, the rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels and the sunsets are amazing. There are also elk ....and the very occasional bear. Yet Taos and the Ski Valley are each only 20-25 minutes away. And, Arroyo Seco, a tiny hamlet of artists, with maybe the best ice cream in the world (Taos Cow), a few good restaurants, and some interesting shops, is just 2 miles down the mountain. You enter the suite from its private porch. In the summer, the flowers are blooming and we put out the hammock. There are chairs and a table for al fresco dining, cocktails, or scribbling. In the warmer months, the porch is the room you'll use most, In the winter, the view, from porch and suite is, more often than not, a snowy, winter wonderland. From the end of Coyote Road (a short walk) you can see to the the Rio Grande Gorge, Georgia O'Keefe's Padernal, and beyond. The suite has a queen bed as well as a day bed and a table and 2 chairs where you can eat breakfast or serve yourself a take- out dinner or lunch from one of the restaurants in Arroyo Seco or Taos. There is a small fridge, a microwave as well as plates, glasses and cutlery in the passageway to the bath. There is local tv as well as a collection of videos. The suite is self sufficient and private, tucked into the lower floor of our home. The suite is accessed from its private porch that looks out into the juniper and pine and beyond, to the gorge. The downstairs is yours; the upstairs is ours. This is our home and we are available if needed and look forward to meeting you, however, we rent the downstairs only when we don't have family or guests of our own staying with us and, if you come, we will leave you to enjoy your privacy. We are always available by text, email or phone. Our neighborhood is El Salto, just up the mountain from the artist village of Arroyo Seco that has interesting shops, a few good restaurants as well as Abe's and Sol Foodl for groceries. We love the tranquility of El Salto, the profound quiet. We love to watch the birds-- hummers in the summer, magpies in the winter. Year round, the flickers. We like the walks. We are on the edge of the wilderness and there are hikes and ambles just outside the door, whether down Coyote Road or up the mountain and into the woods. And, we love the sunsets. Magnificent ones-- most every evening. The Ski Valley, 12 miles away, offers more hikes as well as biking and winter sports. Taos, 10 miles in the other direction, offers the Pueblo, farmers' and flea markets, galleries, more shopping and more variety in restaurants. Plus music and entertainment. You'll need a car to get to us and it should be four wheel drive if it is the winter. And you should know how to drive in snow and ice. Snow can get deep at the end of Coyote Road. Read our reviews, see our snow warnings, see our pictures! Parking is right in front of the portale and the entrance to the guest suite.. Or, if it's been snowing and the driveway is slick, there is a parking spot lower down close to the road. If you come in winter, you will need 4 wheel drive. We recommend chains on your tires as well. See the winter pictures of the snow at Coyote Road Guest Suite on the listing... The Road Association will plow the road and the driveway within 36 hours of the snow stopping, so there IS the possibility of being snowed in for those 36+ hours. My son has more than once hoofed it to the Ski Valley Shuttle, 2 miles downhill so he could ski fresh powder. Take heed! If you prefer not to risk being snowed in, check our studio apartment in town: Casita de Lilas. It may be open short term. Ask, and we'll send the link.
