Completely remodeled beach-style cottage is located minutes from the beach and situated directly between Monterey and Santa Cruz. This cozy cottage acts as a great private retreat or family getaway. It includes a fully stocked chef’s kitchen and lounging area surrounding an electric fireplace. So grab a book or start the Roku TV and begin streaming your favorite show immediately. This cottage is full of possibilities. A comfortable memory foam queen size mattress greets you in the bedroom complete with storage on either side of the bed for all your clothes. Also has a hanging rod inside to hang up your items. Nightlights are behind your head helping illuminate your phone as you share that great picture of the sea otters you took at the Monterey Bay Aquarium or to finish the last few pages of your favorite novel. Get some peaceful sleep because great adventures lie before you tomorrow! The thoughtfully decorated bathroom includes a glass shower, small vanity and beach decor. Hand crafting antique barn doors allow you privacy from the living area and the bedroom. The kitchen has a lot of counter space with appliances and all the kitchen tools you need to make something special. Head over to the Fish Market for a local catch, stop by a produce stand for some local veggies and come back to this kitchen to make some great memories. Also included is a coffee maker with several coffee pods. This kitchen has it all. The living room has a pull out couch with thoughtful decorative touches. We can promise you it is very comfortable. Additional linens are located in the coffee table/ottoman. Our house is dog friendly however a $50 fee (per dog) required for their stay. Please do not allow your dog(s) on any of the furniture and beds. No dog(s) can be left in the unit alone or in the front. The front yard is gated so your loved one is safe and secure. If there are any pet hair on the furniture you will may be charged an additional $200 cleaning fee. We have a maximum 2 dog policy. Due to extreme allergies we are unable to accept cats. We have toddler toys, a high chair and crib available upon request. Location | Distances -7 minute drive to Salinas River Beach -8 minute drive to Moss Landing State Beach -20 minute drive to Monterey -30 minute drive to Santa Cruz -11 minutes to shopping area in Marina including REI, Target and others Things to Do Due to the central location of our cottage, within minutes you can be on your way to a variety of state beaches and parks. Head up to Santa Cruz boardwalk (37 min) for some amusement park rides or to the Roaring Camp Railroad (40 min). Some of our favorite wineries are also close including Bargetto and Armitage. Castroville is a small agricultural town perfectly situated between Monterey and Santa Cruz. It is a very family focused and everyone is very hospitable. Everyone says hi to each other when walking by the property. There is a lot of street parking in front of the cottage. A short ride will get you to the beach, a winery or a farmer's market. It is very easy to get to Highway 1 or 101. Castroville is known for their artichokes and in 1948 Marilyn Monroe was crowned California's first "Artichoke Queen." In doing our research on the origins of the the artichoke festival we believe this property is the location of the original artichoke house. The first festival was located behind the property. So you will be sleeping in a historic home!
