Plan a day trip to the many local attractions, town beaches, craft breweries, the antique shops at Bayfield or the weekly festivals in the Goderich. Chillax is a 1200 Sq. ft one storey cottage that sits high above Lake Huron along a ravine that empties into the lake. The 3 private queen bedrooms and twin day bed with trundle will comfortably sleep 8. Ample parking for 4 vehicles on the paved driveway. The Bluewater Beach Community walking path and staircase leads to the private beach area that can be used by our guests. The hike takes about 7 min from Chillax. The unmaintained beach is ideal for watching the peaceful summer sunsets, skipping stones and quick swims. Bluewater Beach guests can enjoy walking paths throughout the community - see some amazing views of the lake. Be sure to explore these grassy walkways along with the community park at any time. It has a baseball diamond, volleyball and basketball courts. Indoor Leisure: 4K Samsung 50” SmartTV with Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Pioneer Stereo with Apple Music, Chromecast, ping pong, darts, books, lego, board games, chess, crokinole, jigsaw puzzles, poker chips, cribbage and playing cards are all available for guests to use. Exercise: Avid runners and cyclists will enjoy the quiet nearby side-roads. To Bayfield along Orchard Line is 40km round trip. 2 adult mountain bikes (and bike lock) are available for guests to use. Phone, text or email only. Bluewater Beach is a great place for a family getaway. It is very quiet and a great place to relax and enjoy your privacy. The Town of Goderich is a 2 min drive and the Village of Bayfield is about 10 min. Shopping, groceries, LCBO, Beer Store and many restaurants can be found at both locations. A vehicle is recommended. Goderich has 3 public beach/picnic areas, each have ample pay parking and are well maintained. The "Cove" and "Main" beach areas have lifeguards, concessions, change rooms and playgrounds. "St. Christopher's" beach has a pavilion for large gatherings (family reunions). The 3 areas are linked by a 1km paved roadway and boardwalk. Be sure to check out the pier and the massive cargo ships that haul the salt from the Goderich mine. The marina and public boat launches are nearby as well. After a day of fun in the sun consider Beach Street Station near the main beach for eats. The historic Goderich RR station was converted to a bar and grill and offers a wide selection of food and drinks for small or large groups of all ages. The town has plenty of dinning options, everything from fast food to fine cuisine. Keep in mind bowling or the movie theatre should the weather change your outdoor plans. The Huron County Gaol (a national historic jail site) is another site seeing option in Goderich. Guests will visit the old cells, learn about past inmates and see what it was like to be incarcerated! Goderich’s weekly summertime attractions include the Celtic festival, Classic car show, Farmers market, Children's festival, Arts and crafts weekend and on Canada Day, a patriotic parade through Town and fireworks at the harbour front. The building is located next to Liberation memorial park, enjoy the beautiful water fountain while there. Hiking the Menetesung Trail is a must for the adventuresome. The old railway bed has been converted into a gravel hiking path. This trail is part of the larger G2G trail connecting Goderich and Guelph (128km). The historic bridge that traverses the Maitland Valley takes you high above the river en route to Tiger Dunlop's tomb! The views of the marina and lake are fantastic from this vantage point, so is the fishing below. This adventure is free (or by cash donation at the collection box) and will amaze all that are brave enough to cross it. Bicycles and strollers are allowed - just don't look down and you'll be fine! GIRLS WEEKEND! Spa day reservations at the Ben Miller Inn can be made in advance. This upscale and popular destination is one of Ontario's finest, offering massages, pedicures and more. It's about a 10min drive away and also offers Visitors nightly fine dinning and a fantastic Sunday brunch. For you convenience, Chillax has a 5 bottle wine rack. Various red and white vintages are stocked and available for purchase by guests. All proceeds are donated to the G2G trail system. GOLF TEE TIMES! Golfers will enjoy several nearby courses, including the scenic Maitland GC (9), traditional Sunset GC (27) or the Woodlands Golf Links (18). Each are public courses, tee-times are recommended especially for weekend rounds. For the elite Golfer, consider a drive to Black Horse GC (18) near Kincardine (45 min away), here you will experience the best course conditions and find the most challenging layout in the area.
