Guest suite with own entrance & private parking, part of our converted house - heart of Old Amersham hidden away rear of Crown Hotel. Limited Self serve breakfast provided (see below). Very comfortable with feather & cotton bedding. Work Space desk, Outside seating. Fast Wi Fi, Smart TV, Sky & Sport, Fridge, Microwave & utensils for self sufficiency. Small double bedroom & hallway with own bathroom. If combined with the Barn will form four bedrooms & two bathrooms. See "The space" info below. Secluded and peaceful – in the heart of Old Amersham Buckinghamshire - hidden away to the rear of the High Street and yet within 100 metres of the centre of the Old Town. You can be assured of cleanliness and the fact that we take as much care as possible - cleanliness has always been a top priority, we clean first, then afterwards we disinfect to ensure maximum hygiene. The Old Barn Annex is a Small fully self-contained unit with a private entrance and private parking adjacent to the Barn so the same secluded private location as the Barn. Access between the suite and the Barn is across the paved parking area and only about 10 metres away. If you prefer privacy and your own space, then it will be ideal. Note it’s a 2 or 3 night minimum stay but if short notice, we will consider a single night so do please ask. If we do a single night we will add a £20 cleaning fee to cover part of the changeover costs. It has proved ideal for grandparents with a younger family staying in The Barn - it provides a private space to retreat to for a bit of peace and quiet! The Space We want to make sure your expectations are met so please note that as stated in the listing - the space is as in the photos – (and some of the photos have been taken with a wide angled lens) so what you see is the entire space - the annex is small and consists of the hallway, bedroom and bathroom, private parking and a small outside seating area - one side of the double bed is against the wall so if you are a couple - one of you will need a bit of agility - it does not have a separate inside seating area - only the seating in the bedroom or the outside seating. There is a wicker chair in the bedroom if you prefer to sit down but the bed is comfortable seating too. The small desk and chair now fit as a workspace in the hallway. The suite is a separate part of our main house but is separated by a locked solid door - you have your own separate entrance door and privacy so no one else will be entering the suite area or using the front door although you might get a postal delivery or two. You may hear noise from the adjacent rooms when you are in the hall way but don’t worry it’s only us! Work space with small desk / table for work or eating. Secure superfast wi fi fibre broadband Self catering and organising your own food & snacks etc We provide quality home made Muesli & milk so that you can grab a breakfast - this is complementary as are the tea coffee etc - it is a self contained private suite and we try to make sure that you can be as self sufficient as possible. We do provide a microwave, knives, forks, plates, tea towels, chopping board, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, bin liners etc - quite enough to enable you to have a takeaway or prepare hot food or snacks and clean up afterwards. The desk doubles up as a handy table for food preparation and eating. 24" Flat Screen Samsung smart TV with full Sky TV services including Sky sport. Double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with own private entrance, parking and privacy. Small hallway and outside seating. Private secure parking space immediately adjacent ie outside the door. Microwave, Fridge, tea, ground coffee. Muesli & milk Shampoo, conditioner and toiletries Hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Anything else you need - just let us know There are six or more local cafes that provide excellent breakfasts and meals - all within very easy walking distance i.e. less than 200 metres. As per the photos & description. We are around most of the time and work from home - guests are welcome to join us for coffee and or a chat or just call us for information or help but it is your own private exclusive space and we don’t come in it. Its the Old Town of Amersham - all the pubs cafes and facilities - all within 200 yards Private parking space immediately adjacent to front door - loads of Taxis available to and from the station - taxi service is 24 hours - Central London 35 minutes on the air con train or by tube. Reviews: We have rented quality accommodation in Old Amersham for many years. We are delighted to have had a series of 5 star reviews on trip advisor and (Hidden by Airbnb) maps - see the link and an extract of the reviews below (Website hidden by Airbnb) Don and family USA We rented The Barn for my son's wedding in nearby Ley Hill. The cottage is comfortable, nicely decorated, full of light, and impeccably maintained. Staying for a week were my wife and I, my parents, and for a few days, our daughter. You enter the charming cottage from a private patio area (duck your head--old building, you know) into a sitting area with a pull-out couch, two comfy chairs, coffee and end tables, and the premium service TV. Off this common area is a bedroom with king bed, a bath with excellent shower, and a hallway to a lovely and well-supplied eat-in kitchen which looks onto the patio. We enjoyed leisurely breakfasts every morning and my folks had dinner in one night. A second bedroom with two twin beds is located off another short hallway from the kitchen. There is a clothes washer in the kitchen, which we used for a few items. (Hang to dry, rack provided.) Our host, John, was putting the finishing touches on a new Annex located next door and gave me a tour. The Annex is a self contained unit with what looks like a queen size bed, maybe a king, its own premium service TV, and bathroom. To have a cup of tea or a meal, you just pop across the patio and into The Barn. It would be a perfect setup for 6 people, seven with the pullout couch in The Barn. Within walking distance are Old Amersham with its historic district, pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, a Tesco combination grocery and department store, and an outdoor store for hikers. Kim and family Australia If you are looking for somewhere to stay around Amersham/Old Amersham you need look no further than The Barn and Cottage Old Amersham. We were a family of 5 from Australia , Mum, Dad, grandma (80yrs old) and 2 teenage kids. We were in Old Amersham for a family wedding. We all had our own rooms and bathrooms were abundant. As happens our flight was late and we did not arrive until 11pm, still John and Gill were there to meet us with full explanation of property and welcome drinks. Fridge was full of “essential supplies” much to my sons delight (pizza). We are a family who have travelled the world extensively and experienced many different places to stay. I can tell you it is a fabulous place for both accessibility to London and visiting the many local sights. For us the property was ideal. Gill and John have the unique ability of providing fabulous accommodation being available when you want but also giving you your space and privacy. This I feel is invaluable. I say to my fellow travellers if you are looking to stay in the area please contact John and Gill as you will not be disappointed in either their accommodation or hospitality. Thanks Gill and John Kim and family Brisbane Australia pauljbriss Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Perfect combination of comfort, convenience and style. ***** Left on Aug 22, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for a stay in Aug (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) I stayed at the Barn for over 5 months. It is private, yet close to old town Amersham, which is full of great restaurants, shopping, a Tesco and many weekend events. The Barn's owners are consummate hosts; they respect your privacy but are also willing to talk and give local travel advice. The kitchen is perfect for most any dining need. Patio is large, secluded and impeccably filled with gorgeous blooming plants. In addition to the master bedroom, there is a second BR with two twins or can be used for additional luggage storage during long stays. I would recommend this to anyone for a short or long term stay. You will be in great hands. Mike F Brisbane, Australia Just as good 2nd time around! ***** Left on Apr 13, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for a stay in Apr (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) We stayed here last year (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and loved it so much we came back for more (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Once again John and Gill made every effort to make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible with essentials in the fridge and loads of wonderful little extra touches. This is more like staying with friends than in rented accommodation. On our first trip it was just my eldest son and myself. This time it was the whole family. John is such an amazing host that he remembered that our youngest son loves Thomas The Tank Engine, so John went out and bought a Thomas train track set for our youngster to play with when we were at the property. So with the kindness and consideration shown by the owners, the extraordinary cleanliness, the great location and the bucket loads of character and charm, this place really can not be beaten! Thanks again John and Gill. We'll be back (again and again). Udo S Berlin, Germany A very cosy cottage to stay *****Left on Nov 29, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for a stay in Nov (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) My female colleague stayed with a group of five girls aged fifteen at the cottage. They were very pleased with their stay as everything was provided for a self-catering basis. In about five minutes the students could reach TESCO on foot. The cottage is spacious and cosy and is located in the charming town of Old Amersham, near Amersham on the Hill. By means of buses you can reach Beaconsfield and High Wycombe easily. The landlord of the cottage, who lives near by, was very helpful whenever advice was needed. A very cosy cottage to stay David I Carnforth, United Kingdom Great place to stay Left on Nov 6, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for a stay in Oct (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Nice people who let out the Old Barn enjoyed our stay we would visit again. Quiet location wine on arrival tea milk sugar. Mike F Brisbane, Australia Perfect home from home. Left on Apr 26, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for a stay in Apr (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) 2 people found this review helpful I stayed at The Old Barn in April (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) with my 6 year old son whilst we were in country from Australia visiting UK family that live in the Bucks area. Everything about The Old Barn was perfect. From dealing with John and Gill, through to the delightful accommodation itself. Fantastic touches included all of the essentials in the fridge saving us that urgent supermarket dash on arrival. Our wonderful hosts even left us some chocolates as it was Easter during our stay. The place is spotless and welcoming. Night time temperatures outside were cold during our stay but the Old Barn was toastie and welcoming. Plenty of space, and heaps of entertainment including full Sky package and even a games system meant that our rest time was like being in our own home. The location is perfect, so close to the beautiful Old Town yet tucked away peacefully away from any roads. This was a superb stay. I can't think of a single criticism. We will be back every year having found this gem. Highly recommend.
