Le Calipel is perfectly situated to enjoy all that beautiful Normandy has to offer but the rural setting offers you peace and quiet If you are looking for self catering with style, this is the gite for you. The open plan living area means you can cook and enjoy the the atmosphere with space to be creative in the kitchen then eat at the Art Deco table or al fresco. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a toaster for those of you who prefer toast for breakfast. Although all the equipment is present to cook any meal, anything extra you might require, baking tins, cookie cutters and hand blender for example, can be borrowed from the owners. There is a stunning vintage Belgian woodburner surrounded by an enormous granite fireplace with historic motifs carved into the stone. Massive original timbers support the ceiling with traditionally preserved artifacts. The large bedroom is furnished with good antique furniture and beautiful Persian rugs underfoot lead to the well appointed bathroom with its antique, rare model double ended roll top bath and modern shower cubicle. Bubble bath provided! Your private secluded garden is yours to enjoy, whether you are relaxing in the sun, playing boules or enjoying a barbecue, it is yours. Fancy a little walk? Our lake gives you a great opportunity to watch wildlife or make friends with our free range chickens. We live next door so are available if you need anything BUT we are discrete; so if you really want to get away from it all and see noone, you can just e-mail or text us with any questions. Le Calipel is situated in a very tranquil, rural surrounding but within easy reach of the autoroute network. There is a small supermarket 10km away in Tessy sur Vire, and if you like to use family run shops, there are also boulangeries, boucheries and a fruitiers. There are plenty of walks from the door step or drive a short way and walk in a forêt domaniale - an ancient forest which has some spectacular walks. Further afield are the D-day beaches and sites, a poignant reminder of how we are free today. The nearest railway stations are 15km away and the nearest local bus route is 10km.... There is plenty of parking at Le Calipel. On arrival, you will find a comprehensive Welcome Package which includes a light supper, croissants and home made preserves for your breakfast next day and essentials such as butter, cheese, milk, beverages, wine and cider. Bubbles are provided for the bath and a special hand made soap made using natural products is provided. You don't need to bring dishwasher detergent or washing up liquid....its all there! We are not on any public transport route so your own transport is a must. If, however, you want peace and quiet and want to be able to see the stars at night without ambient lighting burning them away, this is the place for you.
