Spili Lions Apartment is located in the beautiful village of Spili, 27km from Rethymno, and it's the ideal holiday home for those who want to be close to nature and explore the gems of Rethymno’s inland and coastline. This spacious and comfortable apartment works well for up to 5 guests and it is great for couples, families with children, groups of friends or lonely hikers. Within a few steps you will find a bakery, super market, pharmacy, tavernas and the central square of the village. Our 70 sq.m large apartment is situated on the 2nd floor of a two-storey building and you have access to it through a stairway. Entering the apartment you will see the modern open plan living-room with its comfortable sofa-bed and the flat-screen TV. Opposite to the living-room your will find a roomy kitchen which provides everything you will need for a self-catered vacation. A small hallway leads to the two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with two single beds), one bathroom (with bath tub and washing machine) and a veranda with views to Saints Peter & Paul church. Both bedrooms are equipped with good quality mattresses and pillows for blissful sleeps. This beautiful apartment is an ideal starting point for exploration excursions to mountains, canyons or the famous sandy beaches of Southern Rethymno (Plakias, Preveli, Damnoni, Ammoudi, Schinaria, Triopetra, Aghia Galini, etc). The village of Spili hosts two different trails which are parts of the E4 European trail. Free access to all amenities of the apartment. Owners live in the same building and are always available for their guests, but they also allow them the space they need to relax and enjoy their stay with full privacy. Spili is a picturesque village located at an altitude of 430 metres and 28 km south-east of Rethymno Town. Due to its fabulous location the village offers an astonishing view to the sea and the entire surrounding filled with trees, fountains, springs, chapels and churches with wonderful murals. The village is a transport hub for the south coast of Crete and, thanks to its privileged position, you can find almost all services, such as Banks, Post Office, Health Centre, Police, even congress center near metropolis. Therefore, this place is indicated for visitors, who can combine vacation and exploration without missing anything. If you are in Spili, it is worth visiting “Kefalovrysi” located in the square with the two plane trees, in the village centre. This is a row of 25 fountains (taps) with the form of a lion head. Around the “Κefalovrysi”, there are taverns with genuine Cretan cuisine, quaint cafes and shops of folk art. Another attraction of the village is also the traditional watermills and, mainly, one of them which is still in operation. Very popular is the European Union footpath E4 20 “Spili – Gerakari” which passes from the chapel of the Holy Spirit through the olive groves, north of the village. Also, near the village begins the most beautiful gorge of Rethymno, “Kourtaliotiko”, that leads to the famous palm forest of Preveli. Car hire is recommended. Nearest amenities (super market, tavernas, pharmacy, bank, etc) are within walking distance. Taxi transfer from/to the airport or car rental can be arranged upon request.
