Renovated 4 star Holiday house (Gîte) for 6 people in the grounds of an 18th century château, 1h15 min from Toulouse, at the heart of the Pyrénées National Park. Entirely renovated in August 2014, the 4 star Loge sleeps 6 people: with 3 large double-bedrooms, a cot and a sofa-bed in the lounge. It is spacious, light and modern, with all commodities you need for a comfortable stay, including FREE high speed Wi-Fi access. You can enjoy the beautiful mountain views from a private terrace and garden, or take a stroll in the large château grounds. An additional travel cot is available on request. Pouech is a quiet hamlet situated 10 minutes from St Girons, the main local town with plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés and a bustling farmers’ market on Saturday mornings. Ample parking on the property, a private terrace, many walks & cycling tracks in the vicinity, plenty of activities nearby including: - Outdoor and adventure- skiing, mountain walks, peak walks (incl. Mont Valier: 2,838 m / 9,314 ft height), bike rides, gliding, climbing, via ferrata, caving, water rafting, kayaking, canyoning, high-ropes parcours, parapenting, etc. - History- Medieval Castles and Churches, the picturesque cities of Foix and Mirepoix. - Food- many local cheeses, honey, beer, wine, ice-cream and other produces. - Children activities- Animal parks, Prehistoric Park, local outdoor Swimming pools, etc - Relaxation- Spa in Salies de Salat and Aulus-les-Bains. - Sports- Golf, Tennis, Horse-riding, Cycling (Tour de France stages: Col de la Core or Col d'Aspet; or off-road with many mountain bike tracks). Pouech is a hamlet, part of the Moulis commune, with easy access to St Girons, often featured as a Tour de France stage. The Loge is situated in the grounds of our home, the Château de Pouech, which we renovated between 2007 and 2009. It dates back to 1500, although it was built to its current shape in the 18th century. A quiet place to relax, with total tranquillity (baa the odd roaming sheep!), or if you feel more active, stroll along the river taking in the peaceful valley with its many farmers and cheese shops. And if you want to challenge yourself, there are many adventure activities nearby on land, water or in the air! A car is great for getting to see all the wonderful attractions spread around Ariège! To see the local valleys on and off-road cycling offers a wonderfully peaceful way to cover a greater distance than walking. Of course in the mountains, hiking is always a great way to savour the view by foot, or hiring a donkey or horse! The total space of the Loge is a generous 120m2. It comprises 3 separate double bedrooms, a bathroom with a bath, sink and WC, an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge on the ground floor, and an additional WC and laundry room on that level. It has been renovated with high-quality material (granite kitchen worktop, wooden beams, etc.) and many appliances: micro-wave, oven, fridge, cooker, kettle, coffee machine, toaster. It has a wood stove for winter heating (wood included in the rental). A Wi-fi connection and a TV are available. Towels and bed sheets are included. There is also a private outside eating and sun lounging area to enjoy!
