Braid Cottage
Braid Cottage sits in a peaceful courtyard setting in the rolling countryside of the East Neuk of Fife. It has recently been fully renovated offering modern and up to date facilities including underfloor heating and wifi whilst retaining a homely and cosy environment. Located only a few miles from the picturesque town of St Andrews and its golf courses, the property offers ample off road parking, open gardens and a village shop less than a mile away. On ground level there is an open plan kitchen and dining room with Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, Nespresso coffee machine etc. A spacious sitting room with an open fire and television, a master bedroom with zip and links superking bed with shower en suite. Upstairs a further 3 double bedrooms with zip and link beds and a family bathroom with over bath shower. The Kitchen, Dining room, Sitting Room, all bedrooms and bathrooms have individually controlled underfloor heating. Outside there is a lovely sitting area that soaks up the morning sun..... We will be on site to greet guests on arrival, a fresh pantry basket will be provided and as we live in the same steadings area we are onsite to help and assist during your stay. The historic town of St Andrews is only 5 miles form Braid Cottage (about a 10 minute drive). It is know for it's great golf courses and being the "Home of Golf", but offers much more than that... It is home to one of the World's oldest Universities which recently celebrated it's 600th anniversary, and also boasts and a Castle, Cathedral, Botanic Gardens and a number of museums. The St Andrews beach at "The West Sands" was famously used for the opening scene of the movie Chariots of Fire in 1981, and again more recently for the Opening Ceremony of London 2012 Olympic Games. Only 12 miles from Braid Cottage is the City of Dundee. Scotland's fourth largest city is undergoing a seismic transformation due to huge recent investment. A one billion pound project to regenerate and to reconnect the Waterfront to the City Centre started a number of years ago as is beginning to take shape with the recent opening of the much lauded V&A Dundee, the first branch of the V&A to open outside of London. On the back of this opening and other recent developments the city now boasts a thriving restaurant, bar and cafe scene that is the envy of many cities across the country. Although a car would be advisable to get around the countryside there are good bus links from all local towns and cities that stop very close to Braid Cottage. The local train Station at Leuchars which is less than 3 miles form the cottage has direct trains to Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and even London. There are many local taxi firms that offer good fares between local towns and villages, and there are lots of excellent walking trails nearby, both forest walks, hill walks and of course the well known Fife Coastal Trail. In the lounge there is an information book detailing the operation of all the household appliances, information on local amenities and tourist information booklets.
