The House is a fully refurbished semi-detached one-bedroom house in North Preston, 5 minutes walk from Royal Preston hospital and 5 minute drive to motorways south and north. PLEASE NOTE Masonwood Cleaning procedure Information for Guest , Cleaning Contractors , Hosts checklist Why cleaning is more important than ever at 91 Masonwood Cleanliness has always been top of mind for our guests. But it’s even more critical as we all aim to reduce the spread of infection. According to the UK Government advice it’s possible for someone to contract COVID-19 by touching a contaminated surface—like a doorknob or light switch—and the virus may live on some surfaces for several hours or even days. That’s why it’s essential to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces often, especially between our guest reservations. Note: Based on recommendations, we , limit access to our space—including for cleaning—during the 12 hours immediately after each guest’s stay. This means we have now applied a later booking in time to facilitate cleaning . The difference between disinfecting and cleaning When it comes to preventing the spread of germs, it helps us to understand the difference between cleaning and disinfecting. Cleaning is the act of removing germs, dirt, and impurities (like when we use a soapy sponge to wipe off a visibly dirty counter or stovetop). Disinfecting is when we use chemicals to kill germs (like spraying with a bleach solution). By cleaning first, then disinfecting, we can lower the risk of infection. Our cleaning guidelines Here are our own adapted guidelines when cleaning our space between guests. If we work with a cleaning professional, we instruct them to use this list, also. 1. We , Wear disposable gear while we clean. Personal protective items like gloves, gowns, and face masks or cloth facial coverings can provide additional protection depending on the health of the last guest we modify our routines to accommodate levels of infection / contamination* . We throw gloves out after each cleaning and then immediately wash our hands. 2. We, Ventilate rooms before we clean. Allowing fresh air to circulate for at least 20 minutes. If possible, we leave all windows open during the entire cleaning process. 3. We, Wash our hands thoroughly before and after each cleaning. Using soap and water, and wash for at least 20 seconds. If that’s not possible, we use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. 4. We , Clean, then disinfect. Using detergent or soap and water to remove dirt, grease, dust, and germs. Once the surface is clean, spray with a disinfectant. We, Let it stand for a few minutes, then wipe. 5. We, Avoid touching our face while cleaning. To prevent the spread of germs, the NHS recommends not touching our face, nose, and eyes with unwashed hands—and pay extra attention when cleaning. 6. We use the right disinfectant. Including common household disinfectants, household bleach or at least 70% alcohol, which we are informed are believed to be effective against the coronavirus. We , Pay special attention to frequently touched surfaces, like light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, and faucet handles. (See our full list of surfaces to disinfect at the bottom of the page.) 7. We pay attention to sofas, rugs, curtains , and other soft, porous surfaces. Checking and removing any visible dirt or grime, then cleaning with the appropriate cleaners indicated for use on these surfaces. Where. required (curtains ) , we machine-wash items according to the manufacturer’s instructions. 8. WE STRICTLY Wash all linens at the highest heat setting recommended by the manufacturer. That includes bed sheets, mattress covers, hand and bath towels, kitchen towels, and blankets. We wear gloves when handling dirty laundry, and taking care to avoid shaking laundry, which could increase the spread of germs. 9. We , Clean and disinfect laundry baskets and hampers. 10. We, Empty the vacuum cleaner after every cleaning. And wipe down the vacuum cleaner with disinfectant, along with appliances like your dishwasher and washing machine. 11. We, never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleaning solution that can release toxic gases that are dangerous to inhale. 12. We , Line waste bins. Placing bags into directly into the main refuse  bin (outside) will make it easier to dispose of tissues and other waste 13. We, Dispose of or wash our cleaning supplies. If we used paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and other disposable cleaning supplies, these are taken out to the bin after we complete cleaning cycle 14. We , Safely remove any cleaning gear. When we have done the. cleaning, we, immediately remove any protective outerwear like gowns, gloves, or masks, and dispose of them or wash accordingly. Helping guests protect themselves For our guests will want to take extra steps to reduce their risk of infection. We encourage social distancing by offering self check-in and checkout. We use a key lockbox or smart lock with a keypad, and this is disinfected. To help guests maintain a higher standard of cleanliness and hygiene, we make sure our space is well-stocked with a few basics Things like: * Antibacterial hand sanitiser ( when in stock) .. * Hand soap * Tissues * Toilet Paper We provide plenty of extra towels and sheets, especially for guests who are staying for more than a few days. These are placed in plastic grey bags . Please place used grey linen in inner porch and advise us when ready to collect . We will then remove and wash and return to the linen supply . We normally place three linen changes for long stay guests operating on a weekly 7 day wash cycle , so please strip and change bedding ( unless we have agreed to do this ) . new linen is left ready to be placed on duvet OR we deal with this on weekly clean ., We encourage guests to clean up after themselves by leaving disinfectants and other cleaning supplies for them. It has eight main entrances and a network of footpaths linking the site to the surrounding open space and public footpath network.
