Magical spot on the Hawkesbury River and possibly one of the most relaxing places on earth. THE MILSON The Milson is no ordinary river house, more boutique hotel. The luxury fit out includes both custom-made features and antique elements. These combine to create a very casual atmosphere, in a very pristine setting, all less than a one hour drive from the Sydney CBD. There's no better place to relax and unwind and for those who want to add in a bit of action, you can explore the river using our kayaks and canoes. You can also go crabbing (we catch mud and blue swimmer crabs from the end of the jetty from September through to June), spend the day out on the water fishing, visit one of the Hawkesbury’s many hidden inlets and sandy beaches or head out for a bush walk. The Milson is also one of the few properties in the area that is north facing so we get maximum sunshine on winter days and enjoy the afternoon shade in the summer. KITCHEN, DINING AND LIVING AREAS The gourmet kitchen is set-up with polished concrete bench tops, a 5-burner Ilve gas stove, oven and range hood, a large fridge and freezer and a dishwasher. The kitchen comes well-stocked with top-quality pots and pans, knives, Nespresso machine, AeroCinno, Neutribullet and a walk-in pantry stocked with all the basics (you will receive a full list of all that's in the kitchen on booking). The comfortable lounge area includes a sofa covered in Belgian linen and comfy chairs with feather cushions all positioned around a beautiful Chiminees Phillip wood burning fireplace. There is also a seperate dining room that overlooks the river and jetty. Please note: firewood is BYO however the fire place will be set up with a small amount of kindling and ready to be lit. Firewood can be purchased at Bunnings and 7-11. You can also sit out on the deck on the rustic wicker chairs out or on the lawn around the fire pit and listen to the water lapping on the beach and watch the fish jumping in the river. The Milson also has a beautiful built-in BBQ with wok burner or you can use the giant Brazilian style skewers to slow cook your dinner over the fire pit. The Milson comes with wifi and a UeBoom (bluetooth linked speaker) but it does not have a TV, washing machine or dryer. BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS The Milson has two king bedrooms. The king beds are fitted with luxurious Sheridan sheets, 100% Australian wool underlays for extra warmth in the winter, two sets of pillows, feather duvets, beautiful alpaca throws, bedside lights and power points. Both bedrooms also come with large ensuites (almost 6 square meters). The back bedroom ensuite has a large stone bath with shower above. The front bedroom ensuite has an enormous walk-in shower. Both ensuites are tiled floor to ceiling with river stones, have custom made industrial copper plumbing and taps, enormous 12'' shower-heads, vaulted cathedral ceilings, vintage cabinets retro fitted as bathroom vanities and heated floors which (heaven in the colder months!). WATER TOYS There's a single and a double canoe, a single kayak, life vests, paddles, crab pots and a couple of fishing rods. The Hawkesbury is renowned for its fishing. Please note that for insurance reasons you will have to bring your own tackle, hooks and bait. PETS We do allow pets at The Milson but we must approve them beforehand. IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION Prices are based on 2 guests and extra guests (to a max 4 guests) are charged at $50 per night per guest. All rooms come complete with bed linen and bath towels for each guest. The Milson is BOAT ONLY access. If you don't have your own boat you can hire a boat or organise a water taxi. This is done directly through our local water taxi man, Neil Note: see the Hawkesbury River Water Taxi website - sorry but the system doesn't allow us to give you his mobile number. Neil can collect you from the jetty at the Brooklyn train station which is a 10 minute boat ride to The Milson. He can also pick you up at the Deerrubin boat ramp at Mooney Mooney (plenty of free and unlimited parking) which is a short 5 minute boat ride to The Milson. A water taxi will cost approximately $180 return for 2 people (add $10 each way for each additional person). Water taxis typically run between 7am and 8pm although later pickups until 11pm can be pre-arranged. Neil also offers a package which includes a return water taxi trip for two people and a tinny with an outboard motor for the weekend for roughly $320. He has a limited number of tinnys so book early to avoid missing out. A number of the Brooklyn marinas also hire out runabouts or tinnys - see Sandbrook Inlet Marina. Milsons Passage has no roads, no cars, no cafes, no shops. This is what makes is magical. We have a very well stocked pantry with all the basics that you are welcome to use. However, you will need to be organised and bring all the food you need. There is a small grocery and bottle shop at Brooklyn if you have forgotten something or need more supplies. The house is boat access only! We have 2 canoes and a kayak that you can use or you can also hire a tinny or runabout from the marinas in Brooklyn. There are some fantastic bush walks around Milsons Passage, the views from the top of the hill behind The Milson are amazing and there is a secret lagoon for swimming when the weather heats up. There is a charge of $100 per stay for cleaning and linen. The back bedroom has a large ensuite, with bath and over head shower. The front bedroom also has a very large ensuite with vaulted ceilings and huge walk in shower. There is an air conditioner in the kitchen/living room (only) and overhead fans in all the main rooms, bedrooms and on the deck. Please Note: The Milson has a strict NO PARTY and NO SMOKING policy. Our neighbours understand that you have come away to relax and unwind but sound carries on the river particularly at night. For security reasons the outside areas of the property are monitored by CCTV cameras. We also have an equally amazing beach house at Culburra Beach which is just over two hours drive south of Sydney. 'Culburra House' (also on AirBnB) is well-suited for large groups (sleeps 14) with access to 2 beaches and some of the best surfing, fishing and crayfish hunting on the south coast.
