The Cozy Cabin is located on a wooded hillside in a neighborhood of weekend cabins. There is a wide front porch with seasonal views of the New River. 1st floor: - Master Bedroom with queen bed and dedicated work desk. Bathroom across the hallway - Open floor plan kitchen-dining-living with glass front wood stove and cathedral ceiling - Rustic dining table and modern leather sitting - Mudroom for coats, shoes and travel bags - Books and games - Smart TV with Roku, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN 2nd floor: - Loft open to the living room with 2 sleeping nooks and 4 twin beds - Second bedroom with full bed - Bathroom Front porch facing the access road and the New River - seasonal views Back porch facing the hillside Air hockey and foosball tables Pack-n-play, high chair, stair gate for young guests Gas grill with propane tank Fire pits Kitchen - coffee, decaf and tea - spices, condiments, cooking oil - cooking pots and pans, baking sheets, crock-pot, Dutch oven, cast iron cook wear - cooking and eating utensils, steak knives, wine glasses - microwave, toaster, electric stove, fridge - dog bowls Bathrooms - shower-tub downstairs, shower upstairs - towels and face cloths - hair dryers Bedrooms - European-style down comforters and pillows - cotton duvet covers and sheets - throw blankets, extra pillows - coat hangers - iron ~ In the winter, the cabin is heated principally with a high efficiency wood stove supplemented by electric baseboards. Firewood is provided, kindly bring newspaper to start the fire. ~ In the summer, there is no air conditioning at the cabin. Summer temperatures hover around mid-80's during the day and low 60's at night. There are fans in all rooms and screens on the wide windows that let in the breeze from the hillside. The cabin is pet-friendly. Please contact owner regarding the Pet Guest House Rules. Guests have access to the main and second floors, front and back porches as well as the backyard. Part of the basement is used to store materials. Children and pets should not play in that area. During your stay I will be available via messages on the AirBnB app. Family and pet-friendly log cabin located on a wooded hillside in a neighborhood of weekend cabins. The cabin is one row back and does not have direct access to the river. There are seasonal views from the front porch. - Neighborhood shelter by the river side - Neighborhood gravel roads for walking - Short drive to New River State Park for kayaking, tubing, swimming, fishing. See the Guidebook for local outfitters offering rentals and shuttle services. - Short drive to Grayson Highlands State Park / Mt Rogers, Virginia Creeper Trail, West Jefferson and Sparta. As is typical in this area, access to the cabin is via a neighborhood-maintained dirt road and there can be erosion based on the time of year. - The cabin is about 30 minutes from everything: hiking and wild ponies at Mt Rogers, family-friendly tubing and kayaking on the New River at Crumpler, dining and shopping at West Jefferson in the southwest and Sparta in the southeast. - There is no public transportation. Main access roads are I-77, I-81, US 58, US 21, US 421 and NC 16. - The closest airport is Charlotte NC about 130 miles south. * All travelers are welcome. * The last mile along the river is a one-lane gravel road. There can be some erosion especially during the winter months. * The driveway is a little steep. * You will hear the geese honk on the river
