You’ll find separate sitting areas for TV, reading, or group activities like puzzles, cards, Monopoly, chess, Scrabble, etc. Bluetooth speakers are available to stream your own music, enjoy the use of our turntable, or enjoy a night of karaoke! Powder room on 1st floor. Dining table seats 8. KITCHEN We enjoy preparing meals in the chef’s kitchen with a large quartz island that seats 6 and a separate window seating nook that everyone just gravitates towards. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, and this kitchen is easy to love! Outdoor meal set up is easy with direct access to the deck. 2nd FLOOR: 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths (En suite Master bath features shower and jetted tub), and laundry/workroom occupy the 2nd floor. 3 rooms feature comfortable chairs and desks that facilitate remote working. BASEMENT: Serious ping-pong matches have been had in the basement! A full bath with walk-out access to the deck and pool area allow for easy clean up after a swim. OUTDOOR SPACE: Enjoy the pond and rural views from the open deck while enjoying meals on the outdoor dining area, or simply nature watch. You may see small painted turtles peeking through the 3/4-acre pond surface, white egrets, herons, ducks, and geese. Relax or have a good workout in the 40-ft in-ground pool (open from Memorial Day weekend through Sept.) and replenish with food you can prepare at the Tiki bar with a gas grill. We invite guests to walk along the low grass to enjoy the open grounds with a succession of blooms and a wildflower meadow in progress. Please note there is no swimming allowed in the pond and children must be supervised. We are constantly sprucing up our home and continue to add more furnishings and amenities. It is conveniently located only a few minutes' drive from local attractions and conveniences (food shopping, pharmacies). The Amtrak Hudson station is 20 mins away by car. Our primary method of communication is via Airbnb messaging. Guests are welcome to reach out to us with any questions/concerns during their stay. Located within the town of Kinderhook founded by Dutch settlers in 1665, Valatie ("vah-lay-sha") gets its name from the Dutch word "Vaaltje" meaning "little falls". The property is situated in an agricultural area, nestled between pastureland and corn fields. Main St., local attractions, and other conveniences (food shopping, pharmacies) are only minutes away. You'll find a different apple orchard or farm stand with fresh produce and baked goods every few miles. And it’s a great place to enjoy the outdoors, no matter your fitness level. The rural vicinity of Kinderhook and its neighboring areas is most convenient to explore by car. Parking is available everywhere. The presence of the nearby Albany-Hudson Electric Trail has made it attractive to cyclists as well. Cyclists may choose to ride on the roads, or drive to designated trails with their bikes. (Advanced pick-up reservation is recommended.) WILDLIFE Our property features a 3/4-acre spring-fed pond that supports a myriad of wildlife. Depending on the season, you can expect to see or hear a variety of animals like birds, crickets, deer, geese, frogs, cows, etc. Please do not feed the wildlife and keep a respectful distance. Please be aware that the far/eastern part of the property is bordered by an electric fence maintained by the neighboring farm.
