Residenza d`Epoca, Palazzo Nevi, Farnetta, Umbria
Right in the heart of Umbria with sweeping views across hills, this gentry residence is about an hour's drive north of Rome; a place of rolling skies, chestnut and oak mountains and antique people. It was rescued from ruin by the Nevi family, who bought it in 1674. It's been lovingly restored, brick by brick, but left, as much as possible, in the original state. The house retains an appealing whiff of history. Its tile floors are uneven and squeaky. Rough stone walls have been left exposed or plastered using the original historic like mortars, as have the huge ceiling timber beams. Here are rooms through the ages: lofty and light-filled 18th-century proportions, original furnitures and features, tile handmade flooring. Extensive grounds include a walled courtyard, private garage and a large orchard where it is possibile to dine and relax. There is so much space that staying here feels like disappearing into your own private hamlet. The Nevi owners have more than 1,000 acres of surrounding farmland and re-wilded it; planting new woods with truffles and restoring several farmhouses and goat houses. The 2nd-floor 350 SQM (3,800 SQF) flat will be used exclusively by the guests. The flat is located nearby (300 metres) the medieval village of Farnetta in the beautiful countryside of Umbria.
