Escape and unplug in our off-grid eco lodge. Nestled in a quiet wooded spinney at the heart of our working farm, our lodge is hand built from sweet chestnut making it one of a kind. With an en-suite compost toilet and heated shower, log burner and gas stove there is no need to venture into the wilds in wintry weather. When it’s sunny, an outdoor kitchen with wood fired oven, gin bar and fire pit bbq enhance outdoor living. Tiny shepherds hut, bluebell, is included as a comfy lounge/ extra bed. Radmore farm has been in our family since 1937. Currently myself and my husband, Ben, farm goats, pigs and sheep and my dad is an arable farmer growing wheat, barley and oats. The wood where we invite you to getaway from it all is 2.5 acres right in the middle of the farm and is mainly oak and ash trees. It has no WiFi and is not accessible by car for a real unplugged getaway! We have huge respect for the woodland that we are custodians of, and so we didn’t want any old accommodation! An artisan carpenter built our eco lodge from sweet chestnut, making it one of a kind. The fittings and materials are reclaimed wherever they possibly can be and we use environmentally friendly refills of cleaning and hygiene products throughout. The en-suite has a composting toilet, and the compost that results goes back to enrich our farmland! The lodge also has a heated shower, log burner, gas stove, fridge, double bed with Emma sleep mattress, seating area and dining table. There is no mains electric so 2 solar panels generate the power for the lights, underfloor heating, fridge and sockets. Outside the lodge is a decked terrace, an outdoor kitchen with wood fired oven, seating space and fire pit with bbq swing arm, all exclusive to the guest of Chestnut. Parked up next to Chestnut is Bluebell, our tiny shepherds hut. Bluebell is also for the use of Chestnuts guests. Bluebell is set up as a comfy lounge for extra living space, but the sofa folds down into a bed which can accommodate 2 children or 1 adult if needed. PLEASE NOTE: anyone sleeping in Bluebell does not have their own bathroom so would need to use the facilities in Chestnut. This is set in the middle of our 2.5 acre wooded spinney, which you are welcome to walk around. In the middle of the spinney is a wooden shared covered dining area that can be used by any guests staying in the woods. Your car can be parked at our farmhouse, and the spinney is a short walk down a country lane away. Guests have exclusive use of Chestnut Eco Lodge and Bluebell Shepherds Hut, along with outside areas that comprise decking, outdoor kitchen area and seating. There is also a shared covered dining area in the middle of the woods that can be used by any guests that are staying. Guests are welcome to walk around and enjoy the 2.5 acre woods that Chestnut sits in. Guests may visit the farmyard by appointment and with the supervision of the owners (boundaries to neighbouring properties not clearly marked so supervision is necessary). Always available to make your stay as comfortable and as fun as possible. We love to chat about the farm and our food but we also like to leave you to the peace and quiet if that is your thing, we will leave it up to guests how involved they would like us to be. Places to go and things to do near to us: Lots of Canals and canal side walks Everdon Stubbs bluebell woods Lots of good walking routes Canons Ashby house and gardens Silverstone racetrack Towcester racecourse Daventry country park Crockwell farm wedding venue Old dairy farm shopping village and restaurant Roman town of Towcester close by with supermarkets, cafes, ice cream parlour Heart of the Shires Shopping Village It is best to navigate the wider area by car, however there are also lots of beautiful countryside walks in our area, and we are close to the canal if you’d like a day on the water! >>We will do everything in our power to make your stay wonderful but unfortunately we can’t control the weather so suitable clothes will be needed to cope with wet conditions. >>Our natural woodland has brambles, nettles, rabbit holes, hills and other natural hazards so pleased bring suitable footwear and take care when walking. Also please be careful of falling branches if the weather is windy. >>‘Cook it yourself’ breakfast packs can be ordered from Radmore Farm, as well as bbq packs and other produce and cakes from our bakery. >>Please take time to read about how to use the composting loo on your first use, it may be a little different to the plumbing you are used to at home, and yes there is sawdust involved...I’ll leave you to work that out when you visit. >>A torch may be useful to take out with you as there is lots of tree coverage and night can close in quickly! >>Your car will not be able to park directly next to Chestnut, but an off road space is provided a short walk away. >>There may be times when animals are grazing in the woods, please let us know if this is a problem for you so we can make arrangements to move them before your arrival. >>There is no TV or WiFi so you will have to rely on roaming internet and the entertainment and peace of nature! >>The majority of your cooking facilities are outdoors (wood fired oven and bbq grill) but there is one gas stove ring indoors to get you by if the weather is not kind. >>There are fires in chestnut, bluebell and a fire pit and wood fires oven outside, which is a lot of fires. Please keep in mind they don’t have any guards, use the heatproof gloves provided and don’t leave them unattended. >> We use reclaimed, re-purposed and recycled materials wherever possible, as a result everything will be wonky and nothing will be shiny and new- embrace it! >> The electricity is all powered by the sun (no mains) so please be mindful that if you turn everything on for a long time your battery will drain! >>Enjoy our woods, embrace being unplugged and off grid and embark on a woodland adventure!
