Large house in beautiful gardens within an AONB, perfect for families and friends discovering the bays, coves and stunning scenery of the Island. Short walk through the nature reserve to iconic Freshwater Bay, the golf course and the coastal path of the Tennyson trail. Cook in the garden, light the chiminea and watch the stars. Good coffee and eateries close by as well as our much loved local shop (go for wine and cheese!), great fish and chips, butchers and fish shop are up in the village. Plenty of space inside and out of this much loved family house. The surrounding gardens back onto Afton Nature Reserve, and are wildlife friendly with a pond for newts and dragonflies. We also have visiting red squirrels and many birds. There is a large lawn for games, a summerhouse and dining on the south facing terrace. Discounted ferry travel available. The summer house has a leather chesterfield sofa and two rocking chairs, another perfect hideaway. You will have the whole house and gardens to yourselves. We generally stay locally so should be available if you need us. Freshwater Bay is a short walk through the nature reserve with its beautiful shingle and sandy beaches and wonderful rock pools. Compton Bay is a sandy beach, renown for fossil hunting and for surfing and is a ten minute drive away. Totland and Colwell bays are also sandy with a ten minute drive and are very gently sloping, ideal for very young ones. There are so many things to do and so many stunning places to visit. Adventure activities Isle of Wight offer kayaking, caving, paddle boarding from Freshwater Bay. There is jousting at Carisbrooke Castle in the summer. We have miles and miles of walking and cycling in designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are secluded coves and chines to discover. Our visitors book has many suggestions of the places that people have enjoyed the most. There are two off road parking spaces available for you. If travelling by train, picking you up at Yarmouth is no trouble at all. During high season our minimum booking is 7 days. Please bring your own beach towels.
