Nestled in the heart of The Surrey Hills (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Abinger Hammer is a peaceful, historic village set on the banks of the Tillingbourne. It is the perfect country escape and an ideal destination for cyclists, hikers or for those just seeking a peaceful hideaway. We have recently renovated the self-contained annexe at Cow Corner, offering a beautifully finished, cosy base to relax by the Tillingbourne Stream on the cricket green or explore the local area. The space can sleep two adults and a child, and comprises of a comfy double bed, stylish bathroom including shower and heated towel rail, plus a cosy living area with sofa, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, board games, Wi-Fi and television. Towels, linens and a welcome pack including toiletries is provided. Secure garage lock up for bikes is also available upon request. With easy access from London (just 1 hour from London Waterloo) we offer the perfect, easy, country escape. The nearest train station is Gomshall, just a 10-minute walk away. We are also on the local bus routes for easy of access to the local towns and villages. Guests are also welcome to either park on the driveway or in the village car park. Please note, there are to be no additional guests on the premises, including visitors, without prior permission. We will be here to meet you upon arrival and offer any guidance or advice you may require. We will also leave our phone numbers to answer any questions you have during your stay, either about your stay or the surrounding area. In the village we have Annie’s Tea Room and Village Shop, The Tillingbourne Farm and Smokery as well as the wonderful Kingfisher Farm Shop. All supply great local produce from smoked meat and fish, cheese and pies to beers and locally distilled spirits; all great for the perfect picnic. Every Friday evening in the summer, you're able to order amazing pizzas from Surrey Woodfired Pizzas (just over the road). 5 minutes down the road, you then have the beautiful village of Shere. Here you'll find a small co-op, tea-rooms, a couple of boutique shops and galleries, a beautiful 12th Century Church and several good pubs. The historic market town of Dorking is 10 minutes drive away offering a wider selection of shops and one of the best selection of antique shops in the South East. For those looking to explore the Surrey Hill by either foot or MTB, it couldn’t be easier. Step outside the front door and you're on miles of footpaths, bridalways and MTB trails. We can also offer maps or guidance to suit whatever your requirements may be. Local activities include: Wine tasting at Denbies, Gin tasting at Silent Pool Distillery, Mountain Bike Hire, Abinger Cookery School (offering fantastic Weber BBQ courses), Trout/Coarse Fishing courses, Stand Up Paddle boarding.
