The Recruiting Sergeant is a family business, operated by the Colchesters since 1989. Matthew, Nicola and their team have developed an enviable reputation in the area and the pub is well known for its quality food and friendliness, already established as an award winning pub serving great food right in the heart of the broads the Recruiting Sergeant now has 5 elegant bedrooms, welcoming both locals and visitors to the area who want to enjoy good food,excellent drink and a fabulous nights sleep. All classic double rooms are stylishly decorated with an ensuite with bath in all rooms. They all have a large smart TV with tea and coffee making facilities available. Toiletries are included, and extras are available including champagne and flowers. Full breakfast is included. Matthew and Nicola Colchester took over the Recruiting Sergeant in 1989 when they were only 19. Since then they have got married and had two children, who are now 17 and 20 and both work in the business between studies. Nicola manages the front of house team and is supported by Vicky who has been with the couple since 1996 and Julie who she was at school with, there is always one of them on site.Matthew manages the kitchen and is supported by Omar, Tim, Nick, Raff and Terry. The couple and their team believe in offering a superior product at a fair price and aways giving good value for money. They believe that each customer should be made to feel special and remembered. We are a dog friendly pub and have five of our own at home, normally at least one travels with Nicola and they enjoy the wonderful walks on our doorstep. The Recruiting Sergeant is an an award winning restaurant with rooms, situated in the village of Horstead, near Coltishall. We believe we are situated perfectly to explore the beautiful Broads and its surrounding area and yet we are only 15 minutes from the historic town of Norwich and only 30 minutes from the fantastic North Norfolk coast line. An excellent bus service stops outside our door and we are only 7 minutes from the rail station and only 11 minutes from Norwich airport.
