Governor's Retreat

Governor's Retreat is a beautiful Arts and Crafts cottage built in 1906 on the Dingman's Creek in Dingman's Ferry, PA. The house features two back-to-back fireplaces joining the kitchen and living rooms. Outside we have a patio with outdoor dining, a grill and a fire pit. Over the creek is a lounge sitting area perfect for fishing. The cottage is nestled among high hemlocks facing Dingmans Creek, which can be heard gurgling night and day. After duty as a stable and carriage house the barn was converted to living quarters sometime in the 1950s. It was renovated in 2001 and won Better Homes and Garden’s Home Improvement Contest and was featured as their cover story in October 2002. The guidelines for the renovation were to “preserve the irreplaceable.” The lower level has two fireplaces. The one in the living room is wood burning and the one in the kitchen is gas. The walls and floors are primarily stone and the living room's vaulted ceiling is 30 feet high. The six skylights allow guests to enjoy sun, rain and snow. The loft has a magical bedroom with windows that overlook the creek. The cottage was featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Good Housekeeping and Wood Beautiful. It was also used as a location for Hallmark Cards 2005 Christmas card collection. Dates Available: April 1st through November 30th. Rate: $450 - $499 per night with a two-night minimum. I'll be available by phone throughout your stay and my property manager will be available across the creek (3 minute walk). Location: Dingmans Ferry, Poconos, Northeastern Mountains, Pennsylvania, USA (75 Miles from NYC) Local Activities: Antiquing, Historic Sites, Golf, Tennis, Hiking, Rafting, Kayaking, Horseback Riding, Fishing, and Canoeing. Tennis court, creek, trampoline, patio, fire pit, outdoor dining, grill, hammock, and fishing poles are all on the property. Hiking trails begin across the road! With your car you can drive 10 minutes to the nearest grocery store, 10 minutes to the Delaware River, 10 minutes to Camp Ackanak which provides a lake with rowing / row boating, fishing, playground and swimming. 30 minutes away: Bushkill Falls (beautiful waterfalls with hiking), Costas water park / waterpark with water slides / waterslide, bumper cars and other amusement park activities.
