The Hahnheide Several hiking trails criss-cross the surprisingly hilly area. It sometimes goes through shady sunken paths, sometimes along small paths through dense forest. The constant ups and downs that make the paths in the Hahnheide so varied are a legacy of the penultimate Ice Age, when large masses of debris were pushed up into hills. A beautiful hiking trail is circular trail 28. It leads to the "Langen Otto", a wooden lookout tower. It stands on the 99 meter high Großer Hahnheider Berg. 125 steps lead another 26 meters up to a platform, which allows a great view over the Stormarnsche Schweiz in good weather.
