Views & quiet seclusion in an authentic village

Ca'Mazzini Apartment Piemonte, a three-story house that’s played many roles over it’s 200+ year existence - owned in parcel with the 900 yr old medieval castle, (our neighbour) it was once the village school. The apartment has been restored for holiday rentals at the top of the house. “On a cold and wet January day we were awed by the rooms and the feeling created by the arched ceilings, then of course there’s the view” It’s a beautiful weekend or holiday space for 2 (or 4) We’ve spent the last 8 years practicing restraint as we waited to understand local architecture and to find an architect that can safely transport the house backwards in time. Every room is an opportunity, and we’re trying to reconnect the house as past owners had tried to divide it. We’re creating a new story, applying our values to it ….the reason we’ve lost one permanent bedroom to a wellness/yoga room, an important space in the middle of our cold winters. Ca'Mazzini Apartment is a private apartment with private entrance and key code check-in, making your arrival flexible and safe. The open plan kitchen is equipped with natural stone bench tops, refrigerator, induction hotplates, oven and washing machine. The bathroom cheers with bench seating, waterfall and hand held shower. Double glazing and generous radiators make this an ideal winter retreat. Double French doors let the breeze in for cooling summer holidays. Wooden shutters close out the sunlight for afternoon siesta (aaaaahhs) The master bedroom super king four-poster awaits you. (For 2 extra guests there’s a comfy sofa bed) Benvenuto! The entire apartment is exclusively yours. Parking is outside the front door of the apartment, with additional spaces on the Piazza. Guests are welcome to the private garden off the main house below to sit, sunbathe and sip.....or take an afternoon nap in the shade of a tree, maybe yoga or badminton in the summer! Guests enjoy complete privacy from arrival to departure. The apartment (top floor) and house (ground floor) are two very distinct zones and you’ll never be intruded upon. Safe and secure. The entire apartment is yours to relax as you please. We’re available for questions or assistance via phone or email for the duration of your stay. We also have a local caretaker who speaks Italian and English, available for any emergency troubleshooting. (telephone number is in the guest book) The apartment is on the very top of the hill which is Montegrosso village. The front door faces the 900 year old castle and is uniquely sharing the Piazza with the church and one of our fine restaurants. The village celebrations are held here and you might be lucky enough to witness a summer wedding or concert and in winter, the Nativity play. Bar Centrale is our favourite hangout for lunch or dinner, cappuccino or apero drinks at sunset. Very affordable and very friendly. You can’t come without a visit to Alba for lunch or their fabulous Saturday fresh food market. There’s a public swimming pool only 10 minutes drive away in Mombercelli, with a 25 metre pool and restaurant. It's open daily from 10am - 7pm, 2 hour ticket prices are €3 on weekdays and €4 on weekends and holidays. We can provide you with the exact address. Drive to the coast and lunch in Portofino or head to Chamonix to ski or hike in Spring. We are so well placed on the map, your options are endless. A car is a must for your stay. In each direction there is so much to see and it’s a great place to simply get lost. In saying that, the roads and freeways are well sign posted. We suggest Satellite Navigation to find some of the hidden gems. Consult your map and make your daily choice remembering Italy stops for siesta, except the restaurants of course! Parking for one is exactly in front of the apartment and there is plenty of parking on the Piazza for extra cars or larger vehicles. At the bottom of Montegrosso hill (10 minutes walk) is the Railway Station. The line delivers you to Asti (which connects you to Milan, Turin or the Ligurian Coast, Genoa) or Alba and beyond in the other direction. The local taxi number is in the guest book for a night out in Alba or Asti. Montegrosso is in a unique part of Italy being so close to the coastal beaches and the snow capped Alps as well as the glamorous cities of Milan and Turin. We’re in the epicentre of an important wine growing region and the home of the slow food movement. Proudly UNESCO World Heritage listed since (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for man’s unique relationship with nature and the traditional wine growing techniques that exist all around us. You’ll find lots of options for historic tours, wine tasting, fresh food markets and so much more. The food and wine are simply fantastic, seasonal and affordable. Old fashioned generosity flourishes in the area so expect abundant snacks with your apero beverages wherever you linger. Three fabulous restaurants are 2 minutes walk from our front door making your meal times effortless. (The Bar is closed on Wednesdays) The latest offering is the truly world class magnificence of Ca’del Profeta. (please (Hidden by Airbnb) it!) We recommend the degustation with wine pairing for an unforgettable evening. They are also open for Sunday brunch. Please book well in advance for both of these experiences. Groceries and essentials are available at the bottom of Montegrosso Hill (new to us is d’Piu supermarket…and at Il Gigante, a large supermarket near the freeway.
