Hillsdale: about 15 minutes Copake: about 8 minutes Craryville: about 10 minutes Hudson: about 25 minutes (Hudson is the "city" and the adjacent town is called "Greenport" and both have numerous ATMs, restaurants, gas stations, shopping etc) Taghkanic: about 15 minutes Livingston: about 20 minutes Great Barrington: about 30 minutes (slow due to the speed limit going up and down between 30 mph to 45 mph) Catamount: about 20 minutes Butternut: about 35-40 minutes -Available when needed - I have a caretaker near by that responses -I'm best reached by email via airb&b -I will send "things to do" notes 2-3 days before your arrival and access info the night before Located along long lake, there are cottage to the right and left of Owl's Cove. Everyone enjoys the calm and restful state of the area. This is a lake doesn't have a shoreline like a beach for little ones to wade into the water. Everyone rows a couple of strokes in the row boat or kayaks to the swim platform (in the pictures) and from there everyone enjoys the afternoon. Get the best of both worlds, small town charm and the tranquility of sitting by the lake -Copake Falls: Bish Bash Falls, easy hike to see the falls and bike rentals available for strolling down the Harlem Rail Trail -Ancram: Tour the Hillrock distillery -Hillsdale: Catamount ski and adventure park, farmer's market, shops and restaurants -Hudson: walking tour, shops, restaurants and cafes (Gas, banks, CVS, supermarket, Walmart, Kohl's, Joanne fabric) -Chatham: shops, restaurants, supermarket and Ghent playhouse -Great Barrington: shops and restaurants -Art: Omi -Hiking/Walking : Olana, Walkway (Rip Van Winkle bridge), CC land conservatories Golf: Undermountain, Copake Golf and green meadows -State Parks: Taghkanic Lake (walk right into the water) and Taconic (this has a wading pool for young ones) If you don't have a car, you can take the Metro North to Wassaic or Amtrack to Hudson and take a taxi or Uber. Having a car once your at the cottage is the easiest way to get around Lake: Access to the lake is not like a beach where little ones can wade into the water at the shoreline. A few strokes in the row boat from the dock and you'll be at your private swim platform to swim, fish or hangout from during the day. Neighborhood: there are neighbors on either side of the cottage, so if your going to be outside after 9pm, I always ask everyone to keep that in mind when hanging out and chatting. Guests: this setting is not a good match for bridal/groom shower get togethers, reunions or large friends gatherings
