Bright and Airy Garden Apt in the Hudson Valley
Nestled in a country setting, we are happy to share this bright and airy apartment in our family’s home! Your jumping off point for unbelievable natural beauty--swimming holes, hikes, and gorgeous views. Close to Stone Barns, Muscoot Farm, Storm King, Dia: Beacon. Relax and enjoy the cozy apartment and gardens. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. Please note that we have two children and a dog, who you will likely hear and see during your trip! You will be staying in the garden apartment--a.k.a. the basement apartment or mother-in-law's apartment--of our house. It is a cozy, sunny and airy 2-room space at the end of a cul de sac. A tranquil atmosphere with plenty of natural light. A comfy double bed and an additional futon in the adjoining living space. Enjoy deer and bird watching on the private grounds. Close to town and walking trails. Private, off-street parking. Private entrance. Access to lovely, tranquil garden. We are available if you need us, but the space is completely private with its own key and entrance. We know the area very well and are happy to suggest activities and adventures. Because you will be staying in an apartment in our home, please note that you may see us or hear us, though we make every effort to give you the space and privacy you came for. Some guests meet our friendly dog (7 years old) and/or our two daughters (5 and 2 year/s old) in the garden. Quiet small cul de sac close to the village center which boasts an independent coffee roaster, not to mention yoga and homemade ice-cream. Walking distance to village and local trails. 5 minute drive to the Hudson River, Croton River, Croton Dam and beautiful Teatown Nature Preserve. 10 minute drive to Peekskill with fine dining and artist studios. 15 minute drive to Stone Barns and Muscoot Farm. 25 Minutes to Cold Spring and the Hudson Highlands including Appalachian Train. -Walkable to town, which boasts an artisanal ice-cream shop, the only independent coffee roaster in Westchester, several fine and casual restaurants and bars and a yoga studio. -Short ride from Croton-Harmon train station which offers express service to NYC (get to Grand Central in as few as 45 minutes!) via Metro-North and Amtrak. -We live upstairs and are always available if you need us. -Please note that because this is a garden/basement apartment, and there are places where the ceilings are not terribly tall, especially above the bed or in the shower. If you are extremely tall, please watch your head in these spaces. -Though we have a refrigerator, kettle and French press for tea and coffee, there is no microwave or proper kitchen. -This is our family home, so if seeing or hearing young children might make you uncomfortable, this is not the place for you. -Because we don't have a television in the flat, I recommend bringing a laptop to watch movies/shows on if you so desire. -Particularly during the summer months, the wild life is teeming! You may see deer and raccoon, lightening bugs, grasshoppers or centipedes. Please note that this is the country, and while we do our utmost to ensure you have a sparklingly clean space, the odd bug may make its way inside. Our fearless groundskeeper is always available for bug removal if you happen to need it! -Everyone is welcome here. Regardless of who you love or what your background is, our home is your home.
