Hidden from the main street in Laugharne, behind its exotically landscaped grounds, is The Cors, a very special country house. Converted from an exquisite Victorian house, we have brought this building to life and created a charming blend of period pieces and modernist artworks. A bohemian bolt hole, one of the best - the 2-acre garden is a perfect retreat in the summer months. The artistic sensibility is visible in everything we do from the drama of the gardens to the quirky decoration of the house. Bedrooms There are three large double rooms with en-suite, modern bathrooms with walk-in showers, and a corner bath in one of the bedrooms. There is also a king and twin bedroom which has the use of the main bathroom on the 1st floor. Four of the five bedrooms are equipped with large Smart TV's with Sky and Netflix. All rooms reflect the elegant ‘shabby-chic’ style of the Cors Country House with with stunning garden views. Living spaces The Cors offers three large living areas where you can relax and unwind, listen to music on our smart multi-room Sonos speaker system, play with a range of board games, shoot some pool or watch a film in the newly appointed cinema room, again with Sky & Netflix on our 75inch TV with games console. If that doesn't interest you can always become a bartender for the evening and serve cocktails and drinks from behind the old bar. Kitchen The large well stocked kitchen caters for your every need.  With a newly installed oven and induction hob, and modern appliances with the traditional surroundings, what more could you want. There is comfortable dining for 10 people. Utility Room A large space ideal for shoes, wellies, coats and empty luggage, housing the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher. Also access to back staircase, and fire escape route. Garden Translated from Welsh The Cors means bog, which is what Nick Priestland had to work with when he created his beautiful landscaped garden set in a wooded valley bordering the Corran river. Consisting of approximately 2 and half acres, this well designed large bog garden has ponds, gunnera, bamboos and tree-ferns. It is an exceptional, elegant and artistic garden with unusual architectural and exotic planting, dotted with sculptures. The garden is a perfect retreat for a sunny day, there is a range of seating available to chill out and soak up some sun or even have a BBQ. Please be aware of the open ponds and river to the side of grounds as there are no railings. Carpark The large private carpark has enough space for at-least 8 cars. Don’t miss Laugharne for all things Dylan Thomas, plus the beautiful estuary and castle. The Local Area Laugharne is perhaps best known for its associations with Wales' most famous poet, Dylan Thomas, however, there is much more to Laugharne than just Dylan Thomas. Laugharne is a small town sitting on the estuary of the Taf River and offers stunning estuary walks, including the infamous Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk. There are also plenty of woodland walks and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts nearby. It is an ancient town steeped in history, and a popular tourist destination with many great attractions in the area. With its easy accessibility to the M4, and prime location, also makes it a great base to visit Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. The Boathouse, where Dylan and Caitlin lived with their children, is now a heritage centre. Overlooking the estuary are the dramatic ruins of a Norman Castle, a popular visitor attraction. Laugharne has a good choice of cafes and restaurants. There are also a good choice of outdoor activities available in the area, ranging from horse riding, coasteering, to a variety of water sports, abseiling, orienteering, caving and gorge walking. There are many beautiful rugged beaches in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, along with the more popular coastal resorts of Pendine, Saundersfoot and Tenby. There is an abundance of interesting attractions locally, including Castles, historic houses and National Botanical Gardens to name a few. For the younger generation we are a short drive away from the likes of Folly Farm, Oakwood, Manor House Wildlife Park, Heatherton World of Activities and Dinosaur Park to name a few. If you are a "foodie" then there is a fantastic choice of restaurants within a 20 - 30 minute's drive ranging from Coast in Coppet Hall to Y Polyn, just 5 minutes from Carmarthen. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all… Guest access The guest's will have exclusive access to the entire country house and the surrounding beautiful landscaped garden set in a wooded valley bordering the Corran river. Please make yourself at home. Other things to note -The property is pet friendly - there is an additional charge we request from you of £25 per stay. -Smart features including NEST thermostat, smoke & carbon monoxide alarms, TV's and multi-room SONOS speaker system. -Please be aware of the water pressure as with such an old house the pressure drops if all 3 showers and appliances are in use at the same time. -Limited phone service for Vodafone and O2 within the Laugharne area. -Please remember that you’re staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat space with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP -Our reviews are based on previous guests experiences Access statement Arriving at the property Gravel drive and parking area is solely for The Cors Country House and very close to the back door. 1 inch stepped flat concrete area leading to the back door with a raised concrete slab outside the back door, approximately ½ inch, leading to utility.
