Summary: Imagine a place where there are few cars and even fewer people... Then close your eyes and imagine yourself in a place that is surrounded by forest! What do you hear now? The sounds of nature; Birdlife such as Kookaburra's, Galahs, Cockatiels and if you really concentrate you can hear the sound of water...not a rush but a slow, peaceful flow. This is what is waiting for you when you come to stay at Fernbrook...a treescape like no other! Fernbrook is located on approximately a 1/2 acre of land in the peaceful township of Cockatoo, in the Dandenong Ranges. Fernbrook is a 4 bedroom cottage, which has been recently renovated and whilst it provides you with all the creature comforts you could possibly want, it is the peace and serenity that is it's most attractive quality. So don't wait, come and see for yourself and you will go home a different person! The Space: Fernbrook is a 4 bedroom cottage located a 5 minute drive from the township of Cockatoo in the Dandenong Ranges. As you arrive at Fernbrook, there is a 2 level double carport as well as 2 additional parking bays at street level. Once parked under the carport, there is a lockbox located on the top level of the carport on the far left hand post. Simply enter the code you were provided in your Check In instructions and you will have the keys to paradise for the period of your stay. Now your Fernbrook experience actually commences as soon as you get out of the car. You will notice a large cottage garden out front, a set of steps down to a tiled terrace area in front of the house that has a private area with a fire pit and table & chairs that is already inviting you to sit down and relax. But first, you must go into the house... So unlocking the door, you walk in and find the unexpected. A stylish, modern interior, that defies the cottage look exterior. There is an open plan dining/living area with a large dining table for 8, fully laid with the best quality dinnerware, cutlery and glassware...along with a complimentary bottle of wine! There is a 3 seater conversation nook, that is subtle in its location and yet inviting, a set of shelves with books to enjoy, the lounge area with a large 5 seater couch, complete with cushions and a throw rug, there are extra stools, and an arm chair which also has a cushion and throw rug. Of course there is the TV with unlimited Netflix for you to enjoy if you choose, drawers full of DVD's and books to read and an old fashioned wood heater in the corner completes the picture. As you move across the dining/living area towards the kitchen, there is a breakfast bar with stools, the kitchen has stone benchtops along with a dishwasher, an electric induction cooktop, electric oven, kettle, toaster and fridge. There is also a variety of glasses, cookware, salad/serving bowls, serving utensils and children's dinnerware. Moving back through the house, the laundry has a front loader washing machine and a clothes dryer, stone bench and laundry trough. Off the laundry is a separate toilet, which also gives access to the main bathroom. The main bathroom has a shower over the bathtub and a double vanity. There is also a starter set of personal amenities for each guest. Continuing through the house, we head down the hallway and the first two bedrooms we encounter both have a set of bunks in them. Bedroom 3 on the left side of the hallway also has some children's books and 2 bean bags, whilst Bedroom 4 has 2 bean bags. All of the bunks have brand new linen and pillows, along with a cushion and throw rug. Further down the hall the next bedroom on the left is the Master bedroom. This is a large room, big enough that we have a King (split) sized bed that just by looking at it makes you want to hop in. Decorated with European pillows, multiple cushions and a throw rug this bed is fit for a King! The bedroom also has a full wall of built in robes, that when you open the doors have internal lighting and a mirror, a tub chair with cushion and an ensuite with separate shower (waterfall showerhead), toilet and vanity. There is a set of personal amenities for our guests who occupy this room. Last but definitely not least, there is a wall mounted TV, so you can enjoy watching your favourite shows from bed. The last bedroom is right at the end of the hall and this bedroom contains a Queen size bed, again like the Master bedroom, the bed is adorned with European pillows, cushions and a throw. Built in robes run across the wall at the foot of the bed and if you open the first 2 doors you will find their is also a TV set up here so our guests can watch TV in this bedroom as well. Now that we've covered the front of the house, the interior of the house, lets make our way out the back. To exit out to the back yard, we need to go via the kitchen and we find ourselves on an (all weather) elevated patio that has an automated pergola that can be open/closed depending on the weather. The patio has a lovely outdoor lounge setting, 4 burner gas BBQ, and a tall, free standing gas heater. This patio is the perfect place to sit and read, chat with your fellow guests or just sit quietly and listen to the native birdlife and take in the beautiful bushland vista around you. If you get adventurous, you can wander down the stairs and make your way down the back yard, following the steps right down to the bottom, where you will find another secret space. Here you will find a pergola with a table and chairs, a fire pit and right next to it is the babbling Cockatoo Creek which meanders across the bottom of the property. There is a cute bridge that crosses the creek, where you can stand and watch and take in the whole serene vista. This property has so much to offer to so many different people, there are literally surprises around every corner...just when you thought you had seen it all, you find something else to wow and amaze you. So don't take our word for it, please come and visit and see for yourself...you will not be disappointed!
