Cabin on Swede Hill

Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill". Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. We invite you to come...... and experience country life. Entire cabin to your very own. Entire cabin is for the guests. We will respect your privacy, but are available if you need anything at all. Next door to Garwood Orchards, (largest apple orchard in Indiana ), Pinhook Bog Indiana Dunes National Park. (1 1/2 mile), 3 county parks with in 7 miles. South Shore Train Station is 11 miles away, Routes to Chicago and South Bend. The town of LaPorte is 7 miles east of the cabin, local dining, grocery stores and drug stores are available.. Michigan City is 11 miles north of the cabin. Lake Michigan, Washington Park and Zoo has a nice setting on the water. There also is dining, grocery stores and any supplies that would be needed. we are 11 miles from Lake Michigan. South Shore train station ( in Michigan City) is also 11 miles away, to catch a ride to Chicago and or South Bend. Our country side roads are routes for the cyclist that pass by the cabin.
