About this space Spend some time in our beautifully restored cider barn close to the historic Somerset town of Ilminster and 30 minutes from the Jurassic Coast, rest and recharge.. The space The exterior of this Grade II listed thatched barn promises great things and does not disappoint as you enter the double-height entrance hall with original timbers all around you. To one end of the barn is a beautiful double-height living space with a small staircase up to a dining area on the mezzanine at the far end. A private south-facing patio/garden area can be accessed through this room. The whole downstairs features underfloor heating with a separate thermostat for every room, it is also beautifully furnished making the house feel luxurious yet cosy throughout. Across the entrance hall, to the northern end of the building, you will find the well-equipt kitchen next to a spacious family bathroom with a roll-topped bath and separate shower. At this end of the building, there is also a ground floor bedroom with a king-size bed. This bedroom has outside access, more beautiful exposed timbers, and a wardrobe with two drawers. The upstairs accommodation is accessed via the stairs in the entrance hall and consists of twin single beds in the first section. This open mezzanine area also has a large (double width) chest of drawers along with a pair of armchairs and a small table providing a nice quiet place to relax away from the main living area. Through the door at the far end of this space is another stunning bedroom with a king-size bed. Guest access There is a bus stop outside the property that goes North-West to Taunton or South to Axminster - both of which have railways stations. Two vehicles can be parked on the drive. Other things to note Both staircases in The Cider House are wooden so care should be taken not to slip. Standard check-in time is 3pm onwards, and check-out time is before 11am. There is an additional fee of £50-£100 for keys being lost or damaged. It is not possible to install stair-gates here so the stairs from the living room to the dining mezzanine and from the entrance hall to the upstairs twin may pose a problem for families booking with very young ones.
