Welcoming all families, couples, and outdoor adventurists looking for a once in a lifetime experience in the coastal mountains of Central California. Stone Mountain Retreat is a licensed vacation rental property in the county of SLO, and offers a 200-acre getaway landscape that connects to over 1000 acres of state park natural land reserve. About the Property: Recently purchased a few years ago from an amazing family who loved and stewarded the land for over 100 years, this majestic property has been a long kept secret until now. Virtually untouched and offering an instant reset from the world, Stone Mountain Retreat is a place where you can tap into a higher state of consciousness and connect with God, self, and loved ones. As you make your way to the cabin, your adventure starts with your journey up a 3-mile dirt road (Trucks, SUV’s, and higher clearance vehicles have little to no issues vs lower clearance vehicles needing to take it slower passing over the water bars and natural terrain). In a matter of minutes, you’ll find yourself surrounded in the most beautiful landscape on the coast that sets the stage for no worries and complete relaxation. We highly recommend taking the drive in with the radio off, sunroof open if you have one, and windows rolled down as it enhances the experience of hearing nature, creeks flowing from the mountains next to your vehicle, and catching the shadows of the sun peaking through the canopy of oak, maple and laurel trees covering the open road to this tucked away sanctuary in the mountains. It truly is the central coast’s Secret Garden, as the plush green ecosystem is well known for breathing life into all that come and visit. Although minutes away from local attractions and adventures of the beach and city, guests will have the unique experience of true seclusion as they approach the property. Our retreat property provides privacy to be free, awake the adventurous heart, and remind us all that it is okay to be a kid again. Amenities: a. Our Cabin – Roughly fourteen hundred square feet of mountain lodging modernized with pitched ceilings, and modern furniture and appliances to bring in the feel for a fresh experience. b. Nature is Calling – As a guest, you’ll get to experience many of the friendly animals on the property - deer, foxes, wild turkey’s, lizards, and bird watching – we see many hawks, blue jays, hummingbirds, swallows, woodpeckers, robins, finches, and owls. c. Go Explore the Town - We’re close to local favorite destinations within San Luis Obispo County - Here are a few of the local favorites: See Canyon Fruit Ranch (3 mi), Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards – Live Music/Events on Weekends (3.4 mi), Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa (5.7 mi), Avila Valley Barn (6.1 mi), Avila Hot Springs (6.4 mi), Ontario Ridge Hiking Trail (6.4 mi), Bob Jones Hiking Trail (5.5 mi), and Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa, Avila Beach Resort – Golf, Concerts & Festivals (7.4 mi), Downtown SLO Farmers Market on Thursday’s (13 mi). Note: Our Guide entails more details on each attraction upon booking. d. Hiking the Property/Meditation Spot – If you desire to stay on the property, get on those hiking shoes. Guests can experience a captivating thirty to forty-five minute hike to the top of the property where you’ll experience panoramic views of the entire central coast (ocean, mountains, and cities)– we call it our meditation spot – a moment to breath and be grateful for a unique connection with the universe and appreciate all we’ve been given. Access the hike by following the main road up to the top of the mountain. Words cannot describe the views once you’ve ascended to the top. And to relax, we’ve added some hammocks :) e. Can’t forget those Games – Because we understand the kid in us all, we keep adding on games to the property. Guests will have access to games for all ages (e.g. Giant Jenga, Connect 4, Twister, Cards Against Humanity, Monopoly, Scrawl, Scrabble, Legos for the kids, Poker Cards, and more…) f. Outdoor Cooking – If you would rather get prime live coastal red oak firewood during your stay, we have free red oak chunks across the cabin. Grab a wheel barrel and fill up. g. Smart Technology – Although in the mountains and off-grid, we have modernized the cabin with wifi, remote landscape lighting, and a Samsung TV. h. Bring the Entertainment Outdoors (Day and Night) – Our deck has been set up to entertain and build fond memories. Our thought was, how could you have a mountain getaway without a comfortable deck to entertain your guests? You just can’t. With thought of comfort and relaxation, we wanted every inch to enhance the experience the property provides, while aiming to be a functional extension of the main lodge. The seating arrangements and throw blankets offer the right setting for great conversations and connections – whether during eating meals, or enjoying some locally picked spirits from Kelsey’s See Canyon Vineyard down the road. And because we enjoy what the evening brings, we carefully brought lighting into our design. As the sun sets, remote activation transforms the property into a landscape lighting ambiance while still giving guests the experiencing of connecting to the moon and stars above. i. Fire Warms Our Hearts and Toes – Whether if its relaxing with family and friends to a good show on Netflix or playing Giant Jenga, warm yourself next to the fireplace with romantic shadow lighting and an opportunity to relax with an endless supply of fur blankets. The outdoor firepit and tiki torches outside are not to be used given California’s continued battle with fires. j. Stargazing – One of the many benefits of being away from the city is the ability to see the moon and stars at night. Download the one of many constellation applications on your phone and discover the universe above and the story behind each constellation. k. Sleeping Arrangements: The cabin offers sleeping for a maximum of 9, (Master Cal King, Guest Bedroom - Queen and Cal King Loft Above; Living Room Day Bed). l. What to Bring – We recommend you bring plenty of food, spirits, and anything else you need for a seamless transition in case you would prefer to stay on the property the whole visit. There is plenty of room in the modern kitchen cabinetry and commercial fridge to store whatever you need. The host will provide open cabinetry and fridge spaces. We’re transitioning into an eco-friendly off-grid destination; therefore, a large cooler is stored near the front entrance for any frozen food you may want to bring. So don’t forget the ice :) Experiences (Please inquire up to 7 days in advance for booking) 1. On-site massage, yoga, and cooking services are available upon request. Pricing: a. Basic (2 guests) minimum. Based on SmartPricing feature and benchmarking. b. Extra people w/ bed accommodations - $45/person/night after 2 guests up to 9 guests, with 3 vehicle maximum. c. Cleaning Fee $175 (Applied once per trip) d. Dog Fee: $45/dog/night. Aggressive dogs are not allowed on property. Dogs must be potty trained. Given this is a retreat property, we ask that you keep your dogs on leash at all times. We also ask that you pick up their bathroom duty, and not allow them on our nice furniture and beds. If they have a dog bed, please bring it with you. If you allow your dogs to sleep in the bed with you at home and you believe this will be difficult to enforce, we ask that you cover the bed’s white linens with a blanket for them to sleep on.
