Schoharie Creek House

Nestled in the middle of the Village of Hunter, NY, the Schoharie Creek House is a 6 bedroom, 6 bathroom cabin style home, equipped with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, sauna, laundry facilities and Wi-Fi. Four bedrooms have a private bathroom. Parking is available for 2 cars in the house’s driveway. This comfortable home is right on Main Street, within walking distance of restaurants, theaters, art gallery, and Hunter shops, with Windham Mountain an easy 15 minute drive away. The back porch and lawn slopes down to the gurgling Schoharie Creek, which flows north 93 miles from the foot of Indian Head Mountain located in the Catskill Mountains, through the Schoharie Valley to the Mohawk River, which is the largest tributary of the Hudson River. This is a great place to take a dip in during the summer months or to relax by and read a book in the backyard. The house is located across the street from Karen's Kitchen, which is the best place to get homemade breakfast, lunch and baked goods in the village. Hunter, NY is a convenient 1 1/2 hr-2 hour drive from NYC and 30 minutes from Albany. The Schoharie Creek House is two doors down from Catskill Mountain Foundation which offers a year round schedule of performances, movie theater with three screens, bookstore, gallery and the renowned Piano Performance Museum. Local Amenities and Activities: -Many options for long and short hiking trails in the summer months Challenge yourself with the Long Path, the 21-mile portion of the Escarpment Trail where you can climb some of the highest peaks in the Catskills, including Kaaterskill Clove and Windham Peak. For a more leisurely trail walk, check out the Escarpment Trail where you can see the alluring Kaaterskill Falls, which is the highest cascading waterfall in New York State. -The Zip Line at Hunter Mountain –the longest and fastest zip line in North America! -For you history buffs out there, you cannot leave the Catskills until you see Pratt Rock and The Hunter Mountain Fire Tower. Pratt Rock, located in Prattsville, NY, is considered to be "New York's Mt. Rushmore." It is one of the earliest civil war monuments in the nation. The Hunter Fire Tower was the first of 23 fire lookouts built in the Catskills and it is one of the only fire towers that are still standing. -If you will be joining us in the winter months, the best skiing, snowboarding and other winter activities are s at Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain. Both are located only minutes away from Schoharie Creek House and are great for all levels of experience. Less than a mile away, Hunter Mountain has 58 trails on 240 ski-able acres. Windham offers snowboarding, ice skating and snow shoeing in addition to skiing on 54 trails totaling 285 ski-able acres. All of these wonderful activities are at your fingertips!
