Very private -- unlike other Irvington listings, we do NOT live in or adjacent to the property so you can enjoy peace and quiet and alone time!!! TRULY in the heart of Irvington -- you don't need to be a marathon walker to get to the shops and restaurants! The house is less than 1/2 mile to restaurants and shops in town. It's an easy walk and centrally located between the Tides Inn and the Hope and Glory. Work remotely!!! We offer high speed internet, 200MB Wi-Fi! Then take a break and relax on our 1/2 acre lot, where social distancing is easy! Cozy and charming -- the house has a gas fireplace which adds ambiance in the fall and winter months! Come unwind and relax at this jewel box of a house in the heart of town. This lovely and stylish home is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, a quiet retreat, a great place to chill after a bike ride or a day of kayaking or golfing. If you have friends or family getting married in the area, the house is a short walk to The Tides Inn, The Hope and Glory Inn and an easy drive to many other popular wedding sites. The Blue House is on the Virginia Artisan Trail and the Virginia Oyster Trail and is in the book, "The Houses of Irvington: Architecture of an American Village." We have also been featured in Virginia Living Magazine. It is conveniently located walking distance to almost everything that charming Irvington has to offer. Situated on a lovely half acre lot between the renowned Tides Inn Resort and the Hope and Glory Inn, the Blue House offers privacy and value while just moments to it all! Historic Irvington, VA has been called 'Mayberry meets Manhattan.' Enjoy this quaint quintessential waterfront village without sacrificing great dining, shopping or style. Our house is an easy stroll or bike ride to a delicious meal at the popular "Office Bistro," or "Dredge," both are neighborhood restaurants. Enjoy great coffee and breakfast or lunch at The Local. Have an great glass of wine at Vine -- a wine bar serving small plates and cheese boards. The Tides Inn offers both casual and elegant dining options as well. We are a short drive from waterfront dining include Merroir in Topping (Rappahannock Oyster Company), Willaby's in White Stone, and The Tides Inn's restaurants are right down the street! There are also a few boutiques and shops within strolling distance. Check out Windswept Experience & Supply for bike rental, and stylish clothes and accessories, The Dandelion -- perfect for women with seeking stylish options, Objects (for art and gifts.) The Tides Inn offers amazing spa services and an upscale gift shop. Enjoy history? Walk to The Steamboat Museum in Irvington. Historic Christ Church is one of the oldest churches in the nation and is just a short drive. The towns of Kilmarnock and Lancaster Courthouse have small museums focused on local history. There are many other historic sights nearby. Rent a boat for fun or fishing. Golf at one of the famous local Irvington courses -- The Golden Eagle, or the King Carter Golf Course are within 10 minutes of the house. The first Saturday of the month (April-November), Irvington hosts a wonderful Farmer's Market in the town square. It's a short walk from our house and is an open air market featuring farm fresh produce, artisanal cheeses and meats, art, crafts, plants, live music -- something for everyone. There are other markets in nearby towns as well -- Kilmarnock, Heathsville, Urbanna and Mathews also have similar markets. Two miles to the east is the wonderful town of White Stone. Stop in at The River Market, dine at The Sandpiper, or Willaby's or shop for fashionable clothes and accessories at Farm. Take scenic Windmill Point Road and enjoy drinks and watch the sunset of the Chesapeake Bay at the Tiki Bar & Grill at Windmill Point or visit the small sand beach nearby called Westland Beach. Kilmarnock, VA is about a seven minute drive. There are great high end and casual restaurants there as well: Thai Pot, Carried Away Cuisine, Smokin' Joe's Barbeque, The Dub Shack, Northern Neck Burger and The Car Wash Cafe. Great antique stores, upscale shopping and RAL -- the Rappahannock Art League Gallery are all worth a visit. There are some great local vineyards nearby for wine lovers. The Dog and Oyster Vineyard is an easy bike ride up the road. Good Luck Cellars is in nearby Kilmarnock. Also, Kilmarnock Brewhaus is great for local beer. The Northern Neck is known for festivals, parades and events. All year long there are things to do and see. The Fourth of July features local small town parades with vintage cars and fire engines. The Irvington Parade goes right by the house. Plan a trip to our house and let the stress melt away! Holiday weekends and bookings in high season may require a three day or more minimum. We appreciate your understanding! The Blue House offers high speed wifi, a small kitchen, two bedrooms and two ensuite bathrooms. We have a brick patio out back with a patio table and chairs and a small table and chairs for two people in the front yard. We also have two Adirondack chairs on the back patio. Please note that we have one security camera on the exterior front of the house overlooking the driveway.
