I live in the same town and am available most of the time if needed. Come enjoy the simpleness of our town of Tallassee, AL. Tallassee is located on the Tallapoosa River which forms Lake Tallassee. It was originally inhabited by the Creek Indians and is was known a Textile Mill town until the closing of the "Old Cotton Mill" in 2005. You can enjoy a meal at the Rustic Mill Bistro locate just off the Tallapoosa River near downtown or visit the 1220 Cafe for a lighthearted meal or coffee. If you would like to enjoy some scenery, take a walk across the Tallassee Bridge and view the Thurlow Dam upstream and the Old Mills on the downstream side or take a walk on the Tallassee boardwalk on the edge of Lake Tallassee and follow it through the paved nature trail for a little fresh air. I have also heard the fishing is pretty good at the boardwalk. The Tallassee Falls Museum is also in downtown Tallassee. We are 35 miles from Auburn University and 30 miles from the capital in Montgomery. There is so much to do in Montgomery. The Hank Williams Museum and the cemetery where he is buried along with the capital, Old Alabama Town, and free tours of the First White House of the Confederacy and the Alabama Museum of History and Archives are all located in Montgomery. We hope to see you soon.
