Area Attractions: Stockton Springs houses its own lighthouse located in nearby Fort Point State Park, has its own local beaches and is centrally located along the coast which provides easy travel destination to both the Midcoast and DownEast Regions -- 40 miles to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, and Stonnington; 30 miles to Bangor, Bluehill, Ellsworth, Islesboro and the popular destination of Camden Hills noted for its quant shopping village and where mountain meets sea; 40 miles south to the Rockland/Rockport area and Thomaston where you can shop at the Maine State Prison Store featuring its beautiful wood furniture and crafts handmade by the inmates.
