Secluded Cottage Home in Forested Setting
Secluded home with tranquil view
Windrush is a cottage-style home set in the forest. The rear deck looks out over a meadow frequented by elk, deer, wild turkey and an array of migratory birds. Greenleaf Peak and Red Bluff provide the backdrop with snow-covered peaks in the winter. This charming home provides a spacious living area highlighting the baby grand piano well as an ample kitchen and a breakfast nook overlooking the front garden. Windrush provides quick access to downtown Stevenson with microbreweries, coffee shops and dining as well as close proximity to kite and wind surfing, mountain biking, hiking and white-water rafting, yet is far enough from the river and railroad tracks that the train whistle can only be heard on the breeze. Windrush hosts a variety of migratory and resident wildlife. A herd of elk roam through several times a year. Several deer call Windrush and the surrounding neighborhood their home. While the comings and goings of these wild creatures are lovely to watch, other wildlfe is more interactional. Chiefly, a flock of wild turkeys come to visit Windrush during the breeding season, between early March and mid- April, they then dispurse to find nesting sites. They are quite entertaining, but also very boisterous in the morning. They have taken to roosting in the trees near the house. Potential guests should consider this before booking. Some guests enjoy the turkey’s antics, while others find their early morning antics disturbing. There are white noise makers in both bedrooms. Never-the-less, please consider this before booking.
