Mango Lodge - ocean-view, gardens, close to beach
Gorgeous timber cottage, Large garden, Short walk to the beach, Ocean view
Covid-19 update: Mango Lodge is certified by the Dominica Government to operate as vacation accommodation and also as accommodation for quarantine. Mango Lodge is a pretty timber house with open-plan living and surrounded by nature. Inside the high ceilings, numerous doors and windows and open style gives the house a light and airy feel. Outside the large roofed deck gives you space to relax or dine with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. The half-acre garden surrounds you with nature and gives you a feeling of being hidden away from the world. It also provides numerous fruits and flowers from mangoes to limes, heliconia to hibiscus. But this is no isolated jungle cabin. A two minute walk through the garden brings you out in the centre of Toucari bay where to your left you have the village with its bars, restaurants and kayak/paddle-board hire. A minute or two walking through the village and you are at the beach where you can relax or go snorkelling out to Toucari reef - one of the best sites on the island. Mango Lodge sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms (plus a 7th guest can be accommodated on the day-bed in the living room). The master bedroom has a king-size bed, ceiling fan and doors that open out onto the deck with views of the ocean (yes you can sit in bed and gaze out to the Caribbean Sea). There is also an en-suite with wc and shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, a private balcony facing the ocean, ceiling fan and views of the garden. The third bedroom has twin beds, a ceiling fan and views over the garden to the sea. All beds have quality mattresses, superior bedding and mosquito nets. The spacious bathroom has an electric shower with instant hot water. The kitchen is large, simple and fully equipped with stove, fridge-freezer, coffee machine, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine and all the glassware, crockery and cookware you could need. Many of the tourist sites promoted in Dominica are in the south (where the cruise ships dock). But here in the north-west we have lots of adventures which, though less advertised, are also less busy and just as spectacular. Fill your vacation with Cabrits National Park, Fort Shirley, the Indian River, Syndicate Trail, Milton Falls, Lapluy Falls, Lamothe River Falls, Cold Soufriere, Toucari Beach, Toucari reef snorkelling, Purple Turtle Beach, Rainforest horse-back riding, kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailing, and more.
