It goes without saying that the views are magnificent, overlooking the North Shore, Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and Green Cay. With an abundance of living and dining areas, everyone will be comfortable and relaxed..... whether lounging by the infinity pool, dining beneath the canopies of the pergola or sipping cocktails on the large covered porch and admiring the intoxicating vistas. *Photos taken March 2019* At the heart of the property is the great house with a large living space, indoor and outdoor dining/living areas, gourmet kitchen with all the conveniences you would expect including a 6 burner viking stove, dishwasher, warming drawer and subzero refrigerator. Food can be enjoyed in the formal dining room or outside dining area overlooking the infinity edge pool. The patio area is equipped with an outdoor kitchen with both gas fired barbeque and pizza oven, as well as an Indonesian hand crafted dining table set under a shaded pergola perfect for experiencing the outstanding Caribbean sunsets. Vine cottage, is a large master suite with a king-sized four poster bed which looks out over the Atlantic Ocean and Jost Van Dyke. The ensuite bathroom includes both indoor and outdoor showers, walk-in closet and DirectTV. There's a convenient fridge, sink and water cooler and a shady private veranda overlooking Jost Van Dyke. Two large bedrooms lie at the heart of the estate, overlooking the pool. In one bedroom there's a four poster king-sized bed, walk-in closet and bathroom with outdoor shower. The adjacent bedroom has two twin beds designed specifically to be pushed together to make a king when requested; the walk-in closet and bathroom with indoor shower complete this suite. These bedrooms both open onto a porch overlooking the infinity pool and the ocean view, they're side by side making them a great option for parents wanting to be close to their children. The 4th bedroom, adjacent to the landscaped courtyard at the entrance to the property, has two teak twin beds, again designed to push together create a comfortable king when requested. The ensuite bathroom has a refreshing rainfall shower and the kitchenette has a fridge and coffee maker. This suite is particularly popular with the teenagers who like the privacy this bedroom offers set apart from the main social areas! All bedrooms are air-conditioning for those important cool down periods after enjoying the Caribbean sun, or they can be opened up to enjoy the sea breeze with sliding screens (the 4th bedroom does not have the screen doors). There are spectacular sea views from all parts of the property and over an acre of mostly landscaped gardens full of colourful and fragrant Caribbean plants. Don't be surprised to see native hummingbirds enjoying their favourite firecracker plant. For the kids there are lots of places to explore both on the property (including the 'castle keep' area built for the owners daughters when they were younger) and around Long Bay. For those times when you prefer a shaded and cool area, there is a lawned back garden. The villa is designed around a beautiful infinity edge pool overlooking the warm clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The swim machine provides exercise for adults and much amusement for the children...well OK, it's pretty amusing for everyone ;) The pool can be heated (usually only requested in winter), so can be used day and night, and is excellent for star gazing as the property's private location allows wonderful views of the clear Caribbean night sky. The area around Papaya Villa is quiet, set in the exclusive Long Bay Estate. You'll only hear the sounds of the ocean, the palms in the breeze and of course the chorus of the crickets and coqui frogs! Papaya villa overlooks Long Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Tortola (2 minutes drive). Long Bay is also famous as a great spot to watch the spectacular colours of the Caribbean sunset. Just a 5 minutes drive away is Smugglers Cove, which is a stunning, calm and secluded beach with great all year around snorkeling. For more action packed activities including surfing and water sports, other beaches such as Apple and Cane Garden Bay are close by, although guests may be just as happy spending all their time in the restful surroundings of the villa.
